A perfect blend of function, form, and cost
Cheaper than the New Nintendo 3DS XL, this system only lacks the ability to swap the face plates and display 3D visuals. And I'm fine with that, since the 3D effect of the 3DS hurts my eyes when used for longer than 15 minutes. And the molded Pikachu face makes this a very cute and pleasing tactile device to game on.

Poor Shipment Packing = Damaged Box
Leaving three stars not because of the product, but because of the way it was shipped. I collect Nintendo handhelds and keep the packaging, so much to my disappointment this item was shipped with zero wrapping to protect the box. One corner was smushed in and im a few areas the box had minor dents/scratches. Other than the disappointing shipping, the DS itself is incredibly cute! Pikachus face is semi-matte and the nose/about and cheeks are raised. The edges and buttons are a lovely brown. The stylus is plain black. Good solid feel In the hands, just as the rest of the 2DSXLs.

Great system, very cute, and nice feel!
I have owned a number of 3DSs and 3DS XLs. This is my first 2DS, but it is by far my favorite now. From the moment I took it out of the box, I was very pleased with the feel and matte finish. It is lighter than my older 3DS XLs. I've added a couple of photos for comparison to the old Pikachu 3DS that came out a few years ago. To clarify, this 2DS XL is the one on the right in the photos. Just take note that on this 2DS, Pikachu's nose protrudes a little from the system to make a little bump. If you only have a small/form fitting case for other 2DS/3DSs, you'll have to get something that will have some space for the small bump. However that's really not hard to find at all and not really a con considering the plethora of cases out there. My only actual complaint: 1. The stylus that comes with it is very small. I always use a longer Nintendo stylus myself. But in case you were wondering, yes the stylus for this is small, perhaps ok for a child but not so much for an adult.

Our 2012 3DS XL version is still working perfectly fine, but we couldn't pass up this collector's item
Our 2012 3DS XL version is still working perfectly fine, but we couldn't pass up this collector's item! Both of us are Pokemon fans, having played every single Pokemon game... so it's a no-brainer that we need the Pikachu edition. This one is even cuter than the previous version because the faceplate is 3D! His cheeks and nose 'boops' outward! The con is that you can't put it in a protective shell, but it was not a deal-breaker for us. Still, as cute as it is, I do feel like the construction of the 2DS is not as well as our older 3DS XL model. For one, while it is lighter, the material seems worse. The lid doesn't completely close - there's this sliver of a gap because the buttons are a little taller than the lid's width. The stylus is also super tiny - I constantly lose it. If you have big hands, it might be better to use your finger. The menu seems a little more user-friendly, but the overall look of the home page is roughly the same. Instead of pushing a button upward or downward to turn the WiFi on/off (which I hated), you now turn it on/off via the menu button. Really easy to tell if your WiFi is on or not. I feel like the battery got worse. If your WiFi is on, and the game is on but with the lid closed, the battery seems to die faster than my 3DS XL model. Otherwise, it's been a really nice system. Obviously, the Amiibo capability is the real treat. We both play Animal Crossing, so being able to scan Amiibo and the cards directly on the touchscreen is so convenient. I definitely recommend this product. Even if you don't need one, you honestly cannot pass up on this collector's item!

Cute little 2DS!
So I recently bought this 2DS, of course right as Nintendo introduces a newer, cheaper Switch... Anyway, that hasn't stopped me from enjoying this 2DS. Technically, it's still the same as all the other 2DS', but with a different outer shell. I've owned (and extensively used) a 3DS XL, a New 3DS, and a New 3DS XL. I've not used any other 2DS'. So, this DS is a lot lighter, and in my opinion easier to hold, than all other 3DS editions. I'm not a huge fan of the bottom flap that covers the cartridge and SD card slot, but I suppose it's better for kids. (So they don't accidentally eject a game and lose it.) The stylus is A LOT shorter, too. Not telescopic, and even I found it difficult to use. (I have small hands.) I'm not sure if the camera lenses being exposed will be a negative in the long run. So far, mine are fine, but I'm also a lot more careful with this 2DS than most. I'd definitely recommend a case if you're getting this handheld for a kid. The lights all being on the front is different. Not bad, but not always easily visible either. The notification light is built into the hinge, I really do like that! The hinge feels really good, but I don't know if I trust this design. Again, I'm more careful than most and have had no issues, but I feel like a misplaced grain of sand could destroy it. (I don't live near a beach, and I would highly advise to NEVER use a DS at the beach. ) The top screen is also different from the other DS', opting for shiny black bars. I love how this looks! It looks a lot more modern and sleek. The speakers are now on the bottom though, because of the redesigned screen. They sound fine, as long as you're not accidentally covering them with your hands. Also, thank goodness this DS came with a charger in the box! In the past, Nintendo hasn't provided chargers with their 3DS', which was really cheap. Oh, and as an added bonus, the prongs fold down! Makes it easier (and safer) to carry around. Now, specifically on this 2DS. It's beautiful, and a definite eye-catcher! Bright and vibrant yellow, with brown accents. Pikachu's nose is raised, which looks really cute. The red cheeks are also ever so slightly raised. And one last little bonus I noticed after a couple of weeks: the tiny dotted nose and cute smile, are actually made of a soft type of rubber, instead of hard plastic. It's super cute. So basically: it's a 2DS XL, but the cuteness factor made it absolutely worth it, to me.

Well first of all this is the cutest edition Nintendo has ever come out with of the DS. It's freaking adorable and I get so many compliments on it. It's also super fun and has a long lasting charge. Comes with the charger.

Unfortunately the product had multiple delays that led to it not arriving, this is the only reason that I am giving it 1 star. I love the Pikachu 2ds and recommend it because it is adorable. I did get a refund because it didn't deliver so I am not mad at all and I really hope that others are able to get it because this device is so cute :)
