Great tool to monitor power usage and electrical performance.
Great tool to monitor power usage and electrical performance. This watt meter is excellent for tracking power consumption, voltage, current demand, and power factor in real time. It’s very useful if you want to run your own experiments and analyze what’s actually happening with your electrical load rather than guessing. The readings are clear and consistent, making it easy to understand energy usage and efficiency. A solid choice for anyone interested in monitoring and analyzing power behavior at home or in the lab.

Works well, understand its limits
Easy to use, the one-page (double sided) sheet is descriptive and helpful. When used with an outlet where both are used, you can run into a bit of a problem. The unit "intrudes" onto the second outlet's path. Which means if a two prong plug is used in the second outlet, it is likely that it can be inserted with no problem. However, a three-prong lug may be too "thick" to fully mate (see images). And if a USB dongle or power-brick is installed in the second outlet (see images), it is unlikely that all can be plugged in successfully. It can only be plugged into the top outlet without fully masking the lower outlet. The manual is good at hinting at tricks to be used for properly measuring an appliance's power usage, like commenting that the refrigeration compressor being on will engage power measurements, while hinting that when the device is quiescent, no power is consumed, and the clock isn't running. The display is bright and easy to read, even at oblique angles and in bright, indirect sunlight. The reset tool provided needs to have a clip or compartment in which it can be stored. I will guarantee you will lose this; I'm going to attach it with a string through a hole I'll drill in the tool. I think you can safely use a ballpoint pen, although the mfg does not recommend this. My usage of these devices will be to measure the short and long term power consumption of various devices in order to properly size UPS-style battery backups for medical devices. I am pleased with them so far. I wish I could give a 4.8 or 4.9 because of the limitations I've outlined here. Not as bad as a 4, and not perfect either.

Great product and does a great job.
Versatile, accurate, love the backlight function and the additional short cord for hard to reach areas. Would recommend to others.

Excellent right out of the box (even with weird UI); great value
I use an Emporia power meter ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08CJGPHL9 ) to monitor whole-home and per-circuit power usage, but this product really allows me to focus on a single device. The display is clear and easy to read, and the values if displays are just the ones that I want to see. The "Function" button lets you cycle through the different display modes (e.g., Power, Voltage, Amps), and works exactly as you'd expect. Some display modes have a counter feature, which is also very nice - a graph would have been a nice add-on, but perhaps one wouldn't expect it for the price, which I hasten to reiterate is very competitive. The unit is solidly-made, and has no trouble working with relatively heavy-current items, such as a 1500W kettle, shown in the pics. My only complaints about it are the directed to the user interface. They managed to find room enough to put four buttons on the front of the thing, but to clear/reset the counter display you have to push "Function" and "Up" simultaneously. I may be some sort of weirdo special case, but "Function" (mode selection) and Clear are the only operations I'll ever care about, having set up the small set of configuration options. I expect that I'll only use it once a month or so, and I'll never remember the mysterious chord to reset the counter. I expect I'll write the cheat code on the unit with a sharpie!

Slay energy vampires in your home with this device!!
I had always wanted one of these to help understand power usage through my home. This one has good good features, works well and is easy to read at a distance. All you do is plug it in and then plug in whatever device you're interested in getting insight into. Quick and easy to use! I've now gone through my home checking to see what the power usage is of various devices, such as our trusty coffee maker, lamps, TV, Internet and other such things. All this in preparation for knowing just how much power we'll need in a power loss scenario, so we can adaquately plan for a solar generator. If you're interested in finding out where the energy vampires are in your home, this is your tool!

Killawatt killer
As good or better than killawatt features wise and now a better value. Display is backlit, it saves settings between unplugs (for ~200 days !!!) and tracks power cost/consumption. Never loaded it past ~1500W very briefly, so not sure how robust it is for heavy loads, but good for a few 100s of watts continuous.

Backlight and easy to use.
Easy to use and the backlight function makes it easy to see the information. Function button makes it super simple to switch between Amps watts etc... Not used the price per KW as our pricing here is not bad. Not concerned with excessive electricity usage. As long as my drill and heater work.. I'm good. LOL Thought my big screen tv would use more amps... everything plugged in and only .8 amps... Sweet... Heater on the other hand on high draws a whopping 12 amps. Good to know...

Meter appears to work well, but the build quality isn't great. Removing the thin clear film from the display seemed to almost pull the display out of the casing.

I have only had the meter for a week or so. We bought it to replace a much older unit (different model and manufacturer) that had mysteriously become very inaccurate. Everything so far has been quite pleasingly simple. The massive advantage over the old device is that this meter will integrate the power reading over a period of time to give total energy consumed in kWh. The old meter would only give current power consumption. If the equipment under test has fluctuating demand (e.g. anything with a temperature controlled heater or pump), it is very difficult to get a good idea of energy usage without this feature. I have compared the voltage reading against an accurate digital voltmeter and get agreement with 0.5%. I cannot be sure the current range is as accurate, because I could only compare it with a current clamp working at the lower end of its range, but the readings were consistent so I have no reason to doubt the plug-in meter. I do find it strange that nowhere on the unit is there any mention of the manufacturer or model number, although there is a label giving the electrical specifications. The instructions are very brief, as mentioned elsewhere, but then they'll get lost anyway! It is obvious how to operate (except I have not used the cost function. I am perfectly capable of multiplying the kWh buy the charge rate using a calculator). The most important point to remember ( I will probably write it on the unit) is that you can clear the readings and restart the timer by holding don the "FUNCTION" and "UP" buttons for a few seconds. For us it is really useful that we can clear the readings without having to interrupt power to the equipment for which we were measuring the power consumption. I have not had any need to press the "RESET" button yet. The price was very keen and it's doing a really good job for us so far. I have no reason not to give it 5 stars
