Q: first time using henna what should i add to the mix for the best red results?

More heat plus more time equals more red. Mix the henna with boiling water and let it cure for the full 3 hours before using it. Leave it on your hair for the full 4 hours with a towel over your head to hold in the warmth, or periodically use a blow dryer to keep it warm. That'll do the trick. Or if you really want more red I suggest buying the red henna to mix with the mahogany in whatever ratio you want. That works too. I don't add anything to the henna and get a good red tone with the mahogany.

Q: Can I let this cure over night?

I simply wrap my head up tight (I use a plastic cap, a turban wrap and then a beanie) and let it sit for 4 hours while I do things at home. Then I rinse it out and put conditioner on and don't wash it for 48hrs so that the color thoroughly sets. Hope this helps.
