Update 3/2026: While I'm completely happy still with my Geekom A8 Ryzen 7 8745HS, please note as you read my review below that the spec has changed since my purchase. Presumably because of the RAMpocolypse, this mini-PC is now populated with a single stick of 16GB non-LPDDR5 RAM rather than the two 16GB sticks of LPDDR5 when I made my purchase. While I understand the reasons for why Geekom has made this change, it will result in reduced performance. This performance reduction is not tied to the reduction in memory capacity as much as the fact that it is a single stick of memory. AMD processors benefit greatly from dual memory configurations, which this PC no longer comes with. It would have been less of an issue if they had used two 8GB sticks. Otherwise, everything else that follows is still accurate. I'm leaving this review as 5 stars because the PC I purchased deserves that rating. Original Review. I've been building desktop PC's for our family and friends since the '90s, but when replacing an aging family desktop, I decided to take a hard look at mini PC's. And Prime Days back in July seemed the perfect time. So, after two days of plowing through the offerings on Amazon from Minisforum, GEEKOM, GMKtec, Beelink, and ACEMAGIC, I decided on this GEEKOM A8 with the Ryzen 7 8745HS APU 32gb of storage, and 1TB drive. This PC will be used for web browsing, watching videos, word prcessing, doing taxes, photo editing, and maybe some casual gaming. I'm not looking to play heavy FPS games, CAD work, LLM generation, or intense video editing. In other words, it's a family computer. I have recommended Minisforum mini PC's to friends before and they've been very happy. In this space, as in buying a laptop or desktop, the brand isn't terribly important. You're (mostly) buying an Intel or AMD processor, laptop memory, and m.2 storage first and foremost. And this logic is borne out in the pricing pretty much. Faster processor, more memory, larger storage and the price goes up and vice versus; the pricing between brands with similar specs are very close (as long as you aren't talking "name brand" PCs). There are features outside of the basic components that can add to the price, too. For example the GEEKOM AX8 with the same processor, same 32gb of memory, and same 1TB of storage is roughly $100 more because it has more USB connections, an extra ethernet port, more memory upgrade headroom, and an aluminum case. Bottom line is that value scales with capability across the mini PC's that I shopped. This A8 was the right intersection of performance and price for me. Here was my logic: APU: The Ryzen 7 8745HS is virtually identical to the Ryzen 7 8845HS but without the NPU compute units. Will I miss the NPU capability? I am guessing no because it was only a token amount of AI capability, not even enough to reach Microsoft's threshold for a Co-Pilot PC. The 8745HS has a slightly slower maximum frequency, (4.9 vs 5.1 Ghz) than the 8845HS, but same TDP and same 780M iGPU. And the 8745HS was quite a bit cheaper. 32GB of Ram: This is probably overkill for this type of PC. Not saying I'll never be glad I have 32GB vs 16GB, but I doubt there will be many times over the life of this computer where that extra RAM is needed. If I could have found this same A8 with 16GB for less money, I probably would have bought it. The memory is Micron DDR5 running at 5600MT. 1TB SSD: That's plenty of storage for my case. I could even have lived with 500/512GB. There is no second m.2 slot, so I can't add a drive, but connecting a second external drive or replacing with a larger drive is an option; one I doubt I'll ever need. The SSD is one I've never heard of, a Wodposit WPBSN4M8-1TTP, but seems to work fine. Connectivity: 1xUSB4 Type C, 1xUSB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C, 3xUSB 3.2 Gen 2 Type A, 2xHDMI 2.0, and one 2.5GB LAN are plenty for a PC like this. Both USB-C ports double as display ports, so you can effectively connect four monitors/TV's to this tiny little box. The generic-looking AMI UEFI bios has limited options, but given that this is essentially a notebook computer internally, that's not a big surprise. About the only thing you can adjust performance-wise is the fan profile. Speaking of that, temperatures seem to be pretty notebook-normal. It's not totally chill, but it doesn't run hot, and the fan only comes on occasionally. You will hear the fan when it runs, but only in a quiet room or if it was on a desk right in front of you (just like if this were a notebook computer). If this is a media server PC for your TV/home theater, you won't hear it while watching entertainment. Mini PC's are still something of a novelty. When you talk to someone looking for a new desktop replacement about them, they might look at you sideways. But, for most, they represent a good value, offering much more performance per dollar than either conventional desktops or notebook computers. They also excel as media servers and are a step up from Raspberry Pi's and other SOC computers. As for gaming, ones with a competent IGP like this one can certainly offer some performance and you can play games on them. But, honestly, at the price point of the GEEKOM A8, you'd be better served, IMO, getting a PS5 or an Xbox for gaming. All that out of the way, I am very impressed by the GEEKOM A8. Not only does has it performed flawlessly so far (three months as of this review), it is also exceptionally well balanced and put together. Packaging, instructions, warranty, are all in line with a quality product. There has been one firmware update since I bought it, and that went off without a hitch. Will update this review if anything noteworthy happens.

Works as it should for its size! Runs games decently. Obviously if you want the highest quality possible and want to play games like say, persona or ark this PC will not survive! Quality for games like wuwa or genshin is almost similar to an iPhone but just on a computer screen with a few PC only effects as a difference. I’d say, this PC is just good for simple games and to boot up for your computer if you need something to study with not anything insanely heavy duty because the lag will be real. It’s quite quiet and even when the fans to whirl it’s nothing so loud that it’s annoying. You’ve gotta really put your ear next to it to really hear it. If you’re trying to save money yet still want to play high end games, I’d say just save up for a decent large pc build or just get a PS5. But if you just want a pc that can turn on your computer and work smoothly, it’s great. And before someone reads this and thinks “well, duh?” I’ve see a lot of YouTube reviews almost pushing it out as a high end gaming PC. Though it does a decent job, you’re not going to get ultra giga graphics. Barley heats up though even when I am playing the more higher quality games. It really only feels a tad warm then cools itself down. The small compact size is very neat. Easily hideable on a small desk.

I’ve been using the GEEKOM A8 with the Ryzen 7 8745HS and I’m seriously impressed. The integrated GPU handles games surprisingly well — perfect for casual to mid-level gaming without needing a dedicated graphics card right away. The performance benchmarks are solid, showing it can keep up with demanding tasks and multitasking like a champ. What really sets this mini PC apart is how future-proof it feels. Upgrading is straightforward, and the build quality shows they thought about longevity and user needs. Plus, the customer service is incredible — super responsive and genuinely helpful every time I reached out. They even included a free 5-in-1 hub, which was a nice bonus and shows their attention to customer satisfaction. If you want a compact, powerful machine that balances gaming, work, and easy upgrades, the GEEKOM A8 is a no-brainer. Highly recommend!

The product came super well packaged and with the cables necessary to have it up and running. One thing that I would have liked to remember beforehand is that you need, at the very least, a wired mouse for initial set up (I only have a bluetooth one, but thankfully my auntie an old one lying around!). The mini PC is surprisingly quiet, super fast to boot, and is super responsive. It doesn't heat up very much, which surprised me as well. My only gripe with it is that I've had quite a few issues with its Bluetooth connectivity. I had to restart it a few times because it just wouldn't recognize my keyboard and/or my headphones, even though it was already all set up. I've been using it for everything: work, personal life, and gaming! It's important to notice that I mostly play either retro or indie games, so nothing AAA. All games run smoothly without lag. I also play The Sims 4 with a bunch of packs and loads of CC installed (+200gb of DLCs and CCs), graphics on high, and it holds up pretty well. I have Rainmeter, Wallpaper Engine and a small productivity game like Mini Cozy Room or Tiny Pasture running at all times while I work and the PC never stutters. I travel a lot and even though a laptop would be the obvious choice, I haven't quite found one that's within my budget that runs the games I want to play, so this little guy with a small keyboard and portable screen is it for me now.

Reload OS from scratch to be safe, but these are incredible value regardless. Lost one star for providing a "reinstall image" rather than individual drivers. However all drivers are reasonably standard and obtainable for the relevant hardware vendors. Once you get this, make a note of network, wifi, bluetooth, and audio driver in the device manager. Go get them from vendors, and then reinstall windows.

The A5 Mini Pc is excellent! What I want to really say is how good Geekom have been over a minor issue with the Bluetooth not working. I approached them about taking it to a local I.T. place and they agreed! To place such trust in a customer they know nothing about and an I.T. business they have never heard of is SO refreshing. Thanks so much to whoever had the open mindedness to do this. You deserve 5 stars just for that!!

Worked for about 5 months before the graphics card failed to function anymore, customer service did help and exchange my unit for a new one with the 3 year warranty fairly smoothly. They also reimbursed the shipping costs through Amazon which was helpful. The general function of the unit was alright, but I don't think it's equipped to handle gaming for more than a few hours max at a time with medium to low intensity graphics.
