I originally got the mini size in a Jack Black set for my husband for Christmas last year since he’s a fan of the brand. One day I noticed the face scrub in the shower and decided to give it a try. Big mistake. I got instantly hooked. The smell is so fresh and spa-like and the scrub feels amazing on the skin. It’s invigorating without being too harsh and leaves your face feeling smooth and awake. I immediately bought us a bigger tube and now we keep it stocked in the shower to share. Honestly one of the few products that we both genuinely love and use. If you’re looking for a scrub that feels luxe and delivers clean refreshed skin this one’s a winner.

So.......First understand I am married to a woman that sells cosmetics for a living! The deals I can get on ALL the high end products are ridiculous. Yes, even with the "deals" to be honest, they are still a bit more expensive than the Jack Black product mentioned here. I have, because of my wife, a bit of an OCD issue with my skin and my skin care routine and certainly my shaving routine. I use a plethora of products, to say the least. It asks for a photo in the review, take a look, it's embarrassing!! it is what it is! I will focus on this product only for now...I'll get to the others at another time. Now, this may or may not be how the Jack Black company intended this to be used, but how I use it, works for me. I first wash my face with a simple neutrogena face wash. I follow up with the Jack Black Face Scrub (JBFS) as I will refer to it as, then apply the Jack Black Beard lube on top of that...WITHOUT rinsing off the JBFS, then I put shaving cream on top of that. So yes! crazy, but now I have essentially 3 layers of "products" on my face before I shave. I completely shave my face and then mix the JBFS with a mild face wash to wash off any residue. The JBFS really softens up my "beard" or facial hair and makes the shave as smooth as silk and my face unbelievably smooth when all is said and done. Oh, and I do all this in the shower with a fogless mirror, which I shall review as well. Once out of the shower I run an electric shaver all over my face getting any stragglers that maybe I missed with the blade. I then follow up with a facial toner and eye cream, face cream etc......all this I will get to, or feel free to ask. I have tried a lot!! I assure you...A lot! I come back to the JBFS over and over and over. Now, that being said, I am OCD and in no way recommending you follow my routine, what I am recommending is the JBFS to really clean you face extremely well, clean out those pores and keep your face feeling smooth and sexy. (HAHAHA). I can't recommend it enough. The smell, the "granniness" of the product is perfect, not too fine, not too thick....Try it, I'd be curious if you are having the same feelings after using it...I'll review some of the other products I use at a later time. For years I used a very inexpensive Pacific Shaving Company Bamboo Pre-Shave Scrub - Exfoliating Face Scrub & Cleanser. It had great exfoliating properties, but several years ago they seemingly changed the composition, and it is now meh! I upgraded and recently tried Jack Black Face Buff Energizing Scrub despite I never paid this much for a pre-shave cream. Great exfoliant and skin softener, so my shaving experience improved much, and applying a small amount once and waiting for a few minutes is sufficient. I know a convert! Encouraged by these results, before I ran out of this scrub, I also bought Kiehl's Facial Fuel Exfoliating Face Scrub because of high reviews but overlooked that it costs 40% more per ounce than the excellent Jack Black Face Buff Energizing Scrub that I already used. I then did a non-scientific but as much fair as possible side-by-side comparison. I treated one half of my stubble with Kiehl's Facial Fuel Exfoliating Face Scrub, and the other half with Jack Black Face Buff Energizing Scrub (applying similarly small amounts), waited for 2 min and washed them off, trying not to cross-mix. I noticed the following differences: Jack Black Face Buff had much stronger exfoliating effectiveness, causing a satisfying sensation of "sand" on my fingers. I think this means that dead skin on my face started to peel off. Kiehl's Facial Fuel didn't cause such sensation, but that half of my face felt more lathery, so this formulation excels in superior softening effect on old skin and stubble. I then applied a few drops of Shave Secret Shaving Oil to my hand, rubbed in my lower face (and didn't use shaving cream) and proceeded to shave myself with Schick Hydro 5 Sense Hydrate Razor. I really didn't notice a difference! A close cut for both sides with no skin damage. My conclusion is Jack Black Face Buff Energizing Scrub wins on being more affordable (although by no means cheap) while completing the job done!

Works well and smells great. Keep it in the shower to deep clean the face and neck. Nice and fresh. A little pricier than other brands but a good product.

I have tried other products and nothing compares to Jack Black. High quality and effective. Not cheap but really good stuff.

This smells good and has a good scrubbing/pumice compound in it. To me it is too expensive for what it is.

Works great in the shower. Alternate this with the other face wash by Jack Black. The grit in this is a nice amount of rough and leaves the skin feeling clean.

Husband loves this wash! He likes the smell and how his face feels after.
