Fast read and write speeds.
I got this to fit my Ugreen thunderbolt 4 SSD enclosure. As recommended it was reformatted ExFat, so it can be read both by Macs and Microsoft/intel machines. It performs well, it does get quite hot under load, but if I were using it for rendered files continuously I would use a better cooled SSD enclosure. But for my needs I have the performance that does not slow down the Mac M4 Mini pro (Maxed) with 48Gb of RAM. Lets see how well it lasts, I normally replace external storage drives every 18months being overly nervous about losing by data. Good quality board, no drama so boring!

Just brilliant!
the last NVMe drive I bought was about 5 years ago, and it was the predecessor to this, the 980 Pro, and I was amazed at how good that was, but this 990 pro is just incredible. The only thing to keep in mind, is that if you are planning on using this in an enclosure, then make sure that when you put the enclosure together, it actually makes contact inside, or you will quickly find out that it will activate it's thermal cutout as soon as you start transferring stuff to it. Buy a decent enclosure. Hopefully the longevity will be as good or better than the other Samsung Pro drives I've had, and I will update here if there are any changes.

Perfect SSD for a high-end system
Absolutely perfect, the speeds are as advertised, even after 6 months of use without any issues. The software is extremely easy to use, with multiple features. Fits in like a regular SSD. Very reliable great value product. Would recommend.

MBR to GPT to see the full 4 TB.
A nice m.2 4TB. Worked first time out of the box. Had to change the MBR to GPT in Disk Doctor, as I am using UEFi, not BIOS, to recognise the 4TB.

The BEST gen 4 NVMe SSD
probably the best performing gen 4 NVMe you can buy for gaming, as easy to install as any other m.2 ssd and just as reliable as any other Samsung drive, coming from a 970 EVO plus that never gave me any problems. If you are unsure what to get, I definitely recommend Samsung NVMe drives!
