Works well, but ceramic coating did not prevent cooking stains

Really impressed with this stone. Super heavy duty. Glaze is thick and smooth. No smells like unfinished stones. Really crisps everything up nicely.

This is a nice quality pizza stone. I thought I was getting one that had handles and was disappointed when I found this pizza stone doesn't have handles, my bad. The glaze is nice and is easy to clean. The instructions state not to use soap to clean it - only water - and if there's food build up over time to use a baking soda paste to clean it. I imagine that will be sufficient, but it does feel strange not to use soap to clean something that I use to cook food on. The instructions state to preheat the pizza stone at 500 degrees for 20-25 minutes before putting your pizza on it - I found that to be sufficient. I actually used this to cook a (thawed) frozen pizza on and it massively increased the taste of the pizza from just cooking the pizza on the oven rack. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the pizza didn't stick at all, which I was concerned about. You are supposed to put it on the lower rack of the oven, but I didn't realize that until after I had already started heating it on the top rack of the oven and was unable to move it, but everything turned out just fine. This pizza stone is quite large and almost didn't fit on my oven racks but I was able to position it so that it fit okay and was able to be used. I would caution you to pay attention to the size, especially if you have a glass door on your oven. There are other pizza stones of this size that are cheaper that I would probably try first, if cost is a barrier/consideration - I don't see what this one offers that other cheaper ones don't, that justifies the cost difference. If this pizza stone had handles I would have been more comfortable with the price. Overall, it worked out great, made frozen pizza taste much, much better, but I also think this is a bit on the pricey side.

My family loves home made pizza but we only have 2 pizza stones which means that we have to make small pizzas. I have been looking for another pizza stone that is quality at a decent price. A good pizza stone that crisps the bottom of the pizza is hard to come by, I have tried many that have failed. This glazed pizza stone looked interesting so I decided to give it a try. This pizza stone came packaged very well, to ensure that it arrived in one piece. This stone is a large size. The pizza stone is heavy and very well made. My only hesitation with this stone was the glaze. Let me tell you it is amazing. My pizza, or other items I cook on the stone crisp right up. Best of all the glaze is easy to clean and doesn’t absorb like a normal pizza stone, so this stone stays nice looking and not like it’s been around for hundreds of years. I also bake bread and am excited to give this stone a try with my bread. While I do love this stone I wish that it would have had indented handles on the sides like my other pizza stones. I do see that they offer smaller stones with handles but not the 16 inch stone. Overall this is a durable stone that bakes my items evenly and makes sure that they don’t turn out soggy. Now we can all have a tasty, crispy pizza on family pizza night.

I've used pizza stones for decades, and one of my dislikes it that the stones can never be completely clean because of how porous they are. This Old Stone version has a dark glaze on top so that it isn't porous, yet it crisps the crust just as well. The 16" stone doesn't fit in my upper convection oven -- but pizza boxes don't fit in there, either. In the lower oven of my double wall oven, it fits perfectly with not an inch to spare. It will not fit in my Cuisinart outdoor pizza oven -- I'll have to get a smaller size for that. If you plan to use it on your grill, make sure you measure to get the largest size that will fit with the top closed. I love that this stone isn't too thick so that it heats up quickly and evenly. Unlike regular pizza stones, you can clean it with soap and water as long as you don't let it soak. After all, the base IS a regular, porous stone. This just has a dark glazed surface on top and on the sides. -- Debbie Lee Wesselmann
