Patti Smith Complete 1975-2006: Lyrics, Reflections & Notes for the Future

Great anthropology, I truly enjoyed the photos and the lyrics...the poetry and who she is as a person. Pair the book with the music. If you also have read her memoir "just kids" you will be moved. I think the size of the book is perfect ( size of coffee table book) I also like the paperback, good quality thick papers, retro style. There were copies of lyrics of the originals done on typewriters with watermark on them. I loved it.

Impressive collection of introspective poetry and sensual photography .She's an original New York rocker - esp in the 1970s it was unusual . She still delivers sensitive lyrics on digital or paper.

I've held onto two previous versions of this book as my "cultural Bible" to refer to whenever I need inspiration and this updated version continues to inspire though Patti's lyrics and writings and photographs of her and her bandmates' ongoing adventure through the music and cultural landscapes of the world.

It's a great book with all the lyrics from Patti. It's a interesting way to follow the career from her.Nice pictures complete it.For all the fans or people the are interested in her life one tip - buy it!!!

The condition of "Very Good" it was listed was incorrect. I wouldn't be bothered to much about that if there wasn't a page missing from it. Next time, I'll go for quality rather than price.

'Complete,' referred to her music career: here we found the complete lyrics of all her records since 1975 'Horses' to 2006 'Trampin'.' And she adds commentaries, small articles, very interesting to understand the recordings in its context: her thoughts, interests, musicians, etc.And we found a superb photographs collection, too: Patti, musicians, rock concerts, manuscripts and typescripts, sleeves, poets, friends, family. The book's recommendable for the photographs in itself. (I would give it five stars)Unfortunately there's no reference to the double CD compilation 'Land 1975-2002' (Arista 2002). Why? This compilation included Patti's songs that were published in the first time on its CD2: perhaps the 1974 single 'Piss Factory' (however there's a slightly different version in a photo of a typescript), the 1996 studio outtake 'Wander I Go', the 2001 live recording new song 'Higher Learning.' The lyrics of these songs aren't in the book; but the complete lyrics would be interesting for the non-English native tongue people, as me.There's no foreword in the book so we don't know how she's selected lyrics and texts, and why did not be really a 'complete' lyrics compilation. (I gave it four stars).

A must-have for fans of Patti Smith .as well as all the lyrics from all the songs in all her albums , there are also lots of photographs ( many not seen before ) . Watch the Bad Girl of Rock become its High Priestess + then Earth Mother .Photographs also of those that meant a lot to her . Those she loved + those who helped her make some of her moves : moves into marriage + motherhood ; moves from the written to the spoken word ; moves from poetry to Rock n Roll .also included are some of Patti's personal reflections on life , art , performing + being and some of her great poetry .

This book is well worth a read, lyrics and notes are superb and the photographs are utterly beautiful. Could read this over and over again, it's great.

Aunque solo llega al 2006 y no incluye las notas completa de portada de los discos, no deja de ser necesario y recomendable. Las fotos complementan muy bien el libro, básicamente las letras de las canciones y algunos comentarios de Patti.

Les paroles écrites permettent de mieux appréhender la chanson, bien sûr c'est en anglais et ce n'est pas toujours facile d'interpréter hors contexte.Une traduction pourrait être bien venue pour ceux qui ne sont pas pratiquants de la langue du bronx , mais en aucun cas elle ne serait conforme à rendre le sentiment et la sensibilité de Patti.Si vous êtes fan, n'hésitez pas.Patti, c'est de l'ordre de l'orgasme intellectuel.
