Best dog booties ever - They Stay On!!!!
(Husbands review). I've lost count of the sets of booties I've purchased for our Wire-Haired Dachshund mix. He's got short legs, and long feet, plus he's male and so he does the "hard foot sliding thing" often to mark his territory. We only need booties for snow or wet ice conditions, especially when there's salt down (it buns his feet). The problem with all other booties I've purchased (once I found the right size, they need to fit snug, but not too snug) is that they don't go up high enough on his leg. They "just" cover the paw and the lower ankle, and even with Velcro strips (my own or those coming with the booties) I never found a set where they stayed on for any length of time, leaving me to watch his feet closely so I could find Velcro strips and booties somewhere in the snow. A real pain. Anyway, I did an exhaustive search on Amazon yet again, and found these. Here's what makes them work better than any others I've tried. 1) Easy to put on; they have a stretchy sock-type top and a good sized opening into the water;proof part of the bootie that fits over his paws, and I can easily pull that apart enough to slide up over his paw, and once it's over his paw I just put one hand on his (elbow? knee") and use the other hand to pull it as far up his leg (not quite to his knee) such that his paw is firmly inside the bootie. Then 2) they have the best attached Velcro strip I've ever seen. It goes though a metal loop on the front/side of his foot, and loops back around his ankle and you can secure it very tightly. Since it's wrapped round his leg, so to speak, and not the back of his paw, and pulled tight, it's virtually impossible for the booties to come off. I haven't had a single instance of a bootie coming off. And, he LOVES THEM! As soon as I put them on him inside he gets all excited to go out, and once out, the minute he hits the snow/sleet/slush he's off like a rocket. He loves to play in the snow, and truly enjoys what used to be a not so much fun experience. I can definitely recommend these booties. You (and your dog) will be extremely happy you bought them.

No longer available?
Have ordered and used multiple sets. They worked well and were well tolerated by our dogs. Unfortunately they’ve been out of stock for months and supplier appears to have no interest in solving this issue. Apparently I’ll have to find an alternate brand and supplier.

Okay
These definitely keep the mud from getting caked in the paws of my dog, but she hates it when I put them on her. Even with a bowl full of peanut butter, she still runs away! I think the zip up style is probably better.

Nice boot for inclement weather
The blue color stands out nicely on a gray and white dog and the Large size fits my shaved 55 lb (small) Old English Sheepdog almost perfectly. Based on some of the other reviews I had some doubts that the sizing/shape of the boot would work for us (though the OES breed standard specifies small, round paws - more like cats; canine paws are more typically oval - this particular dog's paws are nonetheless a little longer than they are wide) and I was also concerned that the placement of the Velcro strap was a little too low to fit comfortably. But, as noted, the fit was fine and very functional. These are not the easiest boots to get on if your dog is not the cooperate sort. My girl has worn boots before and knows better than to argue with me, so for us they are an easy on and off. Not to say she was thrilled to be wearing them, but that's no reflection on the boot itself, rather her outlook on wearing boots, which she does grudgingly in general. That said, I purchased them right before a snow storm and a visit to Upstate NY, so she got to test them in heavy, wet snow. Mind you, she's almost 12 - and though a retired agility dog and still active for her age - it's not like we put the boots through any vigorous activity testing or marathon marches. But trotting around through deep snow, slush and icy puddles and leaping through some snow drifts, no problem. They're well constructed, indeed waterproof, with a nice inner lining that adds some warming effect without any uncomfortable bulkiness. Please note that though the bottoms are very nice and give good traction under normal circumstances, including indoor surfaces, I would be careful using them on sheer ice.

Defective - ? All the straps and buckles are on the same side
I just went to put them on. i love they have an elastic strap as thought they would stay on. However, all the buckles on this pair and the nonwinter ones velcro in same direction. This is the 1st pair of the many dogs boots I have bought that do that. I am going to return sadly.

A Dog’s Choice
Not the products fault my dog would not cooperate in putting paw in the bootie. Seems well made! Good luck!

works well
We bought this for our 60 lbs. golden/chow mix she had a sore paw and bandages wouldn't stay on and she kept licking off the medicine. I only needed one but bought as a set, we have cinders in our yard, and she couldn't walk on her foot it didn't take long for her to get used to it, she did great!

Works pretty good.
We bought these for our 80lb German shepherd. He had surgery on his foot and the incision was on the outside edge of his foot. There was snow on the ground and for the most part it did a great job protecting his foot. It did come off almost every time he went outside but only when he was running really fast. I’m not sure if he was stepping on it with the other foot or it just got whipped off. It may have also been pulled off just from the deep snow. But overall it did protect his foot and stayed mostly dry. Now that the snow is mostly melted and it’s really wet outside the boot gets soak almost instantly. So I’d say this works well in snow but not soaked grass. It is kinda tough to get on The opening was barely wide enough for his foot. But I guess thats how it should be if you want a good fit.

Needs to be easier to put on the dogs feet
I like these "paw boots" and they seem quite robust. However they are very difficult to put on - especially if you have ordered the correct size. The main issue is that the knitted cuff (and the top of the boot) are rather small compared to the size of the paw. You Need two hands to expand the cuff but even then it is a quite a snug fit over the paw. Once in it is a good fit for paw and leg - no issues there. Unless the dog pushes his paw in (most wont eh!) you are left trying to slide it over the paw but it takes a third or perhaps fourth hand to hold the paw steady. We used these Paw Boots probably ten times and are showing minimal wear. They do appear to stay on even in moderately deep snow. This cures the problem of the dog limping when ice balls form between the pads (a retriever issue).I belief the manufacturer could redesign the cuff (perhaps a split cuff with Velcro closure) to make it easier to install - or perhaps design a tool to make the install easy - something reusable to put in the boot to to make it easier to get the paw in - then remove the tool and use it on the next boot etc.I decided to order and try a different brand ... One that is easier to put on the dog

Would never use another bootie for my dog
We swear by these booties for our retriever/spaniel mix!!! He hates booties but we had no other choice because of his irritated paws in the winter. Now most negative reviews talk about poor durability and I wouldn't disagree, however, I would argue that most durable boots are not only very expensive, but super uncomfortable/not flexible. We tried many of these brands but the boot was so tough our dog refused to walk in them, forcing us to look at more comfortable and flexible materials. Now the problem with most flexible materials is it is not waterproof. These boots fit right in the middle. Comfortable and flexible yet waterproof. They may wear down at the toe (especially when he's walking on cement), but considering the cost I would rather these and replace them every year. Our dog will actually walk in these and they protect him against the snow and salt great! Plus we love the velcro strap is reflective for night time walks.
