Amazing deal
The CRAFTSMAN 230-piece mechanics tool set is an excellent all-around kit that covers just about everything you’d need for automotive work, home projects, and general maintenance. The range of SAE and metric sockets across 1/4”, 3/8”, and 1/2” drives is impressive, and the ratchets feel solid with smooth engagement. The inclusion of both short and long arm hex keys is a big plus—nice to have everything in one set instead of hunting for extras. The VERSASTACK toolbox is well designed and keeps everything organized and secure. Nothing rattles around, and the layout makes it easy to find what you need quickly. It’s sturdy enough to toss in the truck or keep in the garage without worrying about it falling apart. CRAFTSMAN quality is exactly what you’d expect—durable, well-finished tools that feel good in the hand. I’ve already used this set on vehicle repairs and household jobs, and it hasn’t let me down. If you’re looking for a comprehensive tool set that offers great coverage without buying pieces individually, this is a fantastic value. Whether you’re a DIYer or someone who works on cars regularly, this set delivers. Got it on sale for $99

We’ll Please 😎
I’ve been a tool fanatic most of my life, this craftsman set is a great starter set and any veteran of socket needs. I’m more so impress with carry case, the draws easily unlatch, and come out giving great access to my work site. No doubt Craftsman has always answered the call with quality and durability. Very good price for 230 piece set.

Portable Tool Kit
Very thorough set. Better quality than my prior general use tool box but also larger and heavier. The price is good for what one gets including both the tools and the box.

Perfect Weekend Warrior Mechanic Set
With an upcoming hub/bearing assembly swap on 3 of the 4 wheels and new brakes on all four, I needed a new ratchet as my 28-year-old Craftsman 3/8" ratchet suffered a couple of rounded off teeth after years of use and abuse. Shopping around just for a ratchet, and wanting to also buy a 1/2" ratchet, the prices pushed me to start looking at larger/bundled kits. While I didn't really need all of the sockets and wrenches included in this kit, I couldn't beat the price, especially with the price reduction on this kit, which by the way is still full price at Lowes. I couldn't be happier with this kit, and it should well-serve any weekend warrior mechanic for years to come, as long as you don't abuse the tools. I added some adapters to the kit to allow use of the 1/2" drive with some of the 3/8" sockets, as the length of the 1/2" drive provides a little more leverage, finding that sweet spot when the 3/8" drive isn't enough and my 18" breaker bar is too much/doesn't fit in the tight spot. The plastic case, with the removeable trays/drawers keeps everything neat and tidy, easily identifying when something is missing. With my aging eyes, it was tough to see the raised numbering to identify the socket size, but this is easily addressed by coloring the raised numbering with a black Sharpie to make them contrast against the rest of the red tray. It was nice how the trays can be removed and stacked on top of the case for easy access. As mentioned above, I added adapters, but I also added a 6" 3/8" drive extension as the included extensions were too short to access the mounting bolts for the brake calipers and hub/bearing assemblies on my vehicle. The layout of the trays/drawers leaves plenty of space for these additions and probably a bit more. This kit paired with the Craftsman 1/2" impact driver, and the added adapters and extension, I was able to tackle the job easily and save myself a ton of money instead of paying the dealership or some other garage to do this. The only thing needed for the job that wasn't in this kit was a 32mm socket to remove the axel nuts, thankfully I was able to borrow one from a friend. Overall, this is a great kit and I highly recommend it, especially if it is $90 below regular price.

Great tool box
Let’s be real: I bought this set because I refused to pay a mechanic $400 to change my alternator, and I needed something better than the mismatched, rusty tools currently rolling around in my junk drawer. For that purpose? This set is a goldmine. The Real Talk: The "Click" Factor: The 72-tooth ratchets are actually surprisingly crisp. I was working in a tight spot near the firewall of my truck, and having that smaller swing arc saved my knuckles from getting shredded. The "Shiny" Factor: The chrome is thick. I dropped a socket into a pan of used oil, fished it out, wiped it off, and it looked brand new. The 10mm Situation: It comes with enough 10mm sockets (deep and shallow) that when you inevitably lose the first one into the engine bay abyss, you have a backup. That alone is worth the price. Why I knocked off a star (The "Case" Struggle): The tools are great, but the plastic case is the weak link. It holds the tools fine while closed, but the friction fit is inconsistent. I opened it up on my driveway, and three sockets immediately decided to make a run for it. Also, the plastic latches feel like they might give up the ghost after a year of heavy use. Bottom Line: It has a few too many "filler" screwdriver bits to bump up the piece count to 230, but the core tools—the ratchets and sockets—are rock solid. It paid for itself after one brake job.
