These balls really work!
I'm actually surprised these balls really work with my Anova! Had a 12 hour cook and the temperature was very consistent throughout. Before I bought these I kept having to refill the water which was annoying. I like the bright yellow mesh bag because I can dry the balls after cooking and it's easy to find in my kitchen. Love the fact that I can use any of my pots and containers since the 300 balls actually creates a double layer! And I don't need to buy a lid!

Must-have accessory for sous vide
There is a noticeable difference in heat retention when using these things. Previously the temperate would fluctuate maybe a degree or a few points of a degree over an hour or two of cooking. But with these I don't notice more than a 0.1 decrease in temperature during the cooking period; only once did I ever see a drop of 0.2 degrees (F). And the cleanup is simple, just pour out your sous vide water, with the balls present, into the mesh bag. All the water drains, the mesh bag catches the balls, you leave it to dry overnight or something, and you're done.

I highly recommend them if you're new to Sous Vide or you've ...
When I first purchased this product I didn't understand how it work however now that I've gotten used to using them and they keep the water from reducing as much they also allow the temperature to stay constant and your immersion circulator will not have to work so hard. I highly recommend them if you're new to Sous Vide or you've been doing it for a long time.

Work great. Some moisture in the balls so will see if they last
Have had these for about a month. They work well but there seems to be a little bit of moisture in the balls after cooking so I am somewhat concerned they may not last long if they start filling up with water. That's the reason for 4 stars. Time will tell. For my 12 qt Rubbermaid container the 250 balls(have not counted so I assume it's actually 250) form a layer and a half on top and therefore work as intended. I think 3-400 might be better for a couple of layers.

Almost perfect
I have only had a chance to try these out a couple of times but they have worked as advertised. I like that they work as a lid for any size pot/container (pictured with a Rubbermaid 12 Qt.). I docked a star because the product lists 300 count, but we only received 296. That being said, I don't need more than 200-225 to sufficiently cover the Rubbermaid 12 Qt.Good product, great price, especially compared with buying lids.

If you cook sous vide, you totally need these. Without them, you have to maintain the water level during long cooks. This requires attention and messes with the temperature over time. With these, there is essentially no evaporation. If you use a large acrylic tub you'll want to get two sets

works great - easy to clean and while not as good as a lid or clear wrap, definitely more eco friendly and easier to use. SM@RTY also has great customer support and is very responsive to general questions (haven't needed them for any product related issues, so can't comment on the customer service aspecT).

These really slow down evaporation.
I used these overnight in both a stockpot and in a large saucepan with my Joule sous vide. There was no need to top up the water. One slight difficulty is handling these in bulk. Grab a handful and it is easy to drop a couple. I heard one bounce across the floor, never to be seen again, while I grabbed another as it attempted a getaway down the waste disposal. I probably won’t bother with these for short cook, a couple of hours or so, but will definitely use them for over nighters.
