Arrived looking used
Great book but was sold as new and arrived looking very used. Wouldn’t have been an issue but was giving it as a gift.

Now this was bad ass and I want more
Now this was bad ass and I want more!! I knew I would love Amanda’s second collection of poetry but I never imagined I would love it this much. I cried, I laughed and I felt empowered. I closed this book and felt like I could go out and hurt someone. Not in the sense that I would want to but reading these poems made me feel that I would be able to defend myself and/or cause harm if someone tried to hurt me first. I haven’t really felt that from the previous poetry books I’ve read, so this was a glorious feeling I almost read this entire book on the release day but held back because I wanted to savor every word and forget that once I was finished, I would have to wait a year for the next installment. I very much look forward to the third collection. I’m glad to have more work from Amanda coming and I’m super excited to see her work evolve and grow even more

Dirty cover
It’s a great book but my copy arrived with black marks and dirt smudged across the cover. This is a gift to my friend so I was really unhappy to give it to her like that.

I love Amanda Lovelace’s poetry it’s emotional and heartbreakingly beautiful and wonderful and this book is amazing. Her anger comes through and her words give me hope and I could live in her poetry collections. The witch doesn’t burn and learning how to use her anger to change the world around her. Right now I’m taking some of the same steps and learning some of the same lessons in life and this book fits the mood of American society right now.

A Battle Cry
"here's the tricky thing about fire: it stays soft even while it destroys" Amanda blew me away again with her poetry. "witch" was a battle cry for #MeToo and the feminist movement in general. More than that, it was a unique and powerful collection of poetry. Amanda has grown as a poetess since "princess" and as her friend and reader that is so cool to see. Her writing is unflinchingly honest - I think that is part of what makes her books so popular. They are so deeply human and relatable. Anyway, an easy 5/5 for this fiery collection.

It gives me confidence, force and courage. Thank you Amanda ! I love how it is written, the words and the truth you are telling.

I have been so hyped for this collection for so long. I stayed up past midnight to buy it on the day of its release and read it in one sitting. This is a beautiful, angry, inspiring, empowering body of poetry that makes me want to cry and write and burn. Which is exactly what it's meant to do, in my opinion. I loved the 'coven rules' and the homages, and the fairytale elements in the longer poems. Overall I loved 'princess' more (I think I read it at exactly the right time of my life) and even though this had more standout incredible lines that I found myself bookmarking, I'd say that was still my favourite. 'witch' is definitely a 5/5 star, incredible work, though!

The book is great. It's contemporary poetry that has heavy tones of feminism. And it makes light of issues that needs attention. However, I was not a fan of the packaging, the book is so pretty and stylish in it's minimalism, but nobody gave any thought to the packaging, as the corners of my book had already arrived with its own set of pre-dog ears :(

I had some high expectations on this book since I loved her previous one "the princess saves herself in this one" but it didn't quite impress me as much. I like the first one a lot more but it still has some good poetry in it. It is still a recommendation to all the poetry fans out there.
