Spring and Washer For Kitchenaid Mixer Parts Replacement

I was so disappointed when my KitchenAid didn't have this. My mother's old unit had one and I was convinced that mine was broken or misplaced. Looking into a replacement I learned they stopped putting these on the newer units. My paddle attachment was jumpy off the post, and I decided to try this one. I got my wife a new Kitchenaid 5.5 quart mixer to replace her old 4.5 quart. It was immediately apparent that the attachments fit weird compared to her old mixer which had a spring from the manufacturer. I found this spring and washer kit at a good price. It was easy to install and works as desired.

It fit my 6qt mixer just fine! I used small pair of pliers to help with installation and it made it really easy, but it’s not necessary. Sure, the product cost is probably less than dollar, but this is an excellent upgrade for less than $10.

I purchased this for my new Kitchenaid Artisan 5 Qt stand mixer. I purchased and installed this before using the mixer once. Super easy to install...takes 5 minutes or less. Holds the mixing paddles and dough hook more securely. Well worth the effort & $ to install.

So far, this attachment has worked great and it fit my 4.5qt classic mixer. Installation was relatively easy, but I had to use pliers to twist the washer. While having it on the mixer, I definitely noticed an improvement in the consistency of mixing, as I no longer had to keep scraping the bottom of the bowl. I will also mention, that you should re-calibrate your paddle height, by adjusting the screw at the base of the mixer head joint. Once done, I get no more wobbling and the paddles are able to properly scrape the bottom of the bowl.

Kitchenaid used a spring and washer like this until about 20 hrs ago, when they stopped supplying them. The spring reduces the attachments from bouncing up and down on the shaft. Check out Mr Mixer on YouTube for info. Highly recommended

Bought 2 of these kits. For my mixer and a friend's. Older Kitchenaid mixers had the spring built in. A loose hook or paddle sends unwanted vibrations into the planetary gear which then fails like mine did. The spring kit is a lifesaver.
