AB ToolsM10 x 1.5mm Thread Tap Repair Cutter kit helicoil 15pc set damaged thread AN054

I wasn’t sure this would work but decided to give it a go and it worked much better than expected. I have it a practice run on a piece of scrap steel and it worked fine then used it to make my repair. The drill bit worked well drilling through steel (just take it steady and keep using cutting fluid to prevent the bit getting too hot) and completed both jobs without going blunt. The tap worked fine but doesn’t come with a handle to turn it, I used a spanner without problems but it was a little harder to keep the tap straight.I stress tested the heli coil in mild steel and it seems solid so I’m pretty sure it will do the job.

Brought these to repair a stripped thread on a lower wishbone on my car. Instructions easy to understand and the repair is holding firm, touch wood. Price wise this seems the cheapest I could find. Comes with a good supply of helicoils which might be useful with my ability to strip threads!!!!

Had a stripped M10x1.5 thread on lower arm of Mk4 Golf where drop link attaches. Used this kit to complete a thread repair, which avoided buying and installing a new lower arm, plus the additional costs of wheel alignment. Highly recommend, brilliant value for money.

Two things the item doesn't come with a tool to turn the tap which is vital, the thing needs to be put in straight so you either try using a spanner or buy a separate t-handle which is what I did. The kit comes with an hex key but doesn't fit the part it's intended for. In short not great.

Complete waste of money poor quality drill bit that burnt out in minutes. Not fir for purpose and will be returning it.

I used this to repair stripped derailleur threads and it worked perfectly. the coils were too longer than necessary for my bike but it was no trouble to cut the excess off with cable cutters (pliers also work well: it is essentially a thick wire). This saved my frame and took just a few minutes.

Needed to repair the thread on a non replaceable mech hanger on a bike. Did the job perfectly.
