I purchased this robot vacuum at a price significantly higher than many competitive models available on the market. For comparison, my parents bought a much more affordable robot from a less well-known brand around the same time. Their cheaper unit works perfectly and provides full control through an app that displays the robot’s exact location and cleaning route in real-time. In contrast, I am stuck with this far more expensive robot that I can only manually send to clean, with virtually no real control over mapping or area management. This massive lack of control stems entirely from the software required for the device: 1. The Shark Clean app itself is not feature-complete when compared to competitors. 2. Crucially, the app necessary for the full functionality (mapping, zone cleaning, tracking) is geo-restricted and unavailable for download in my country's android store. The result is that a robot sold at a premium price delivers the functionality of a basic, low-cost model. This geographical limitation makes key features of the product inaccessible, despite the robot being sold in my region. I have to watch my parents—who paid far less—enjoy the full, intended experience of robot ownership. For international customers, this robot is a poor investment, as the intended user experience is completely compromised by the unavailable control software.

This thing does an excellent job at cleaning. Since Amazon yearns to know how the suction is, I can say with confidence “it sucks.” As in it does good in the suction department. Noise is what you’d expect for a robot vacuum, not great, not terrible. Audible but honestly, for my average dude ears, “it is what it is, just turn the TV up a bit.” Having had a few different robo-vacuums over the years, this is top notch, and worth the slightly higher price. I also bought this to keep my Shark air purifier company, and since that thing looks like R2D2 lingering in the corner of my house, I named it O2D2 and this vacuum is now Clean3PO. Together they do a great job of making my home clean, both in air quality and floor quality.

The biggest downfall of this robot by far is the app. It's simple, does the job, but compared to the competitors, it's just lacking. First, it kept giving me an error when setting up for the first time. It said "Registration Error", over and over again. No explanation for the error. It was only hours later, while on the phone with support, that I noticed it was set up for the UK and not the US. Why? Because the app is so buggy that it does not display large fonts correctly and it cuts things off. So all I could see was "United" and accidentally selected "United Kingdom" rather than "United States". But the app was not versatile enough to deal with this or even explain what was wrong. The auto mapping feature in the app is fine, very good even. Though the room selection is clumsy, and has a minimum room size, so forget closets or hallways or "L" shaped rooms. The *only* options in the app for cleaning are eco/standard/deep cleaning, and matrix cleaning where it will vacuum in both directions. That's it. No "empty dust bin frequency" or "empty dustbin now". No "treat this like a rug" or floor type selection. The robot is not shown on the map - if you want to find it, you can just make it beep. And you can only use this for a single floor, no way to use on multi-floor houses. Users of Roborocks or Ecovacs will be surprised at how simple the app is. The sad thing is that the app is usually the cheapest/easiest thing to develop, since you only need to develop it one time for all the models. But they went with simple, and truly, for most uses, it's fine. The vacuum itself is really great...too great. In fact I ran it in deep cleaning mode, not even matrix mode, and the dustbin was so crammed with dust, it could not empty...error message. The debris came out in an accordion pleated solid 2ft panel of dust! I can guarantee some spots were missed because it was so crammed. This means it *must* run more often so dirt/dust won't build up, otherwise it just won't empty itself often enough while cleaning to deal with it. So I am glad I got this model as it does the job I need it to do and does it well. It doesn't get stuck, it sucks the hell out of the carpet, it is bag-less, and it has the "matrix cleaning" thing which should improve cleaning even further. And, it's priced very well. I just wish such amazing vacuum developers like Shark spent more time developing their app. Though the technology-averse may prefer it this way.

Love this thing!! I bought this one to replace one from 5 years ago. I have 2 hairy dogs and have never had issues with this one or the previous version.

I’ve waited over 6 months to write my review to make sure I could give an accurate detail of my experience with this item. I use this robot daily in a 1600sf single level home with two large hairy dogs in a dusty Texas city. This vacuum is the bomb!! I love it and reach don’t know how I went this long without it. You can hear it vacuuming but it’s not loud enough to be annoying. I am not however impressed with the app. It logs out a lot on its own, and it has dropped my map a couple of times and overall it’s not real user friendly, but it does keep you informed of its locale and it works. I do have to clear the floor of dog toys, socks and bathroom rugs for it does tend to get snagged on items and then just falls asleep in place. Don’t buy the secondary market parts, buy only Shark parts because the vacuum rejects them. The vacuum to me, was and has been a great purchase. I highly recommend maintaining the filters and just give it a good cleaning it out with your house vacuum monthly to keep up its life. It’s my favorite household item. Charging speed could be a little faster but it’s not affecting my love for the product.
