Mail Boss7160 Metro Locking Wall Mount Mailbox

I purchased the Mail Boss 7160 Metro Locking Security Wall Mount Mailbox, (Galaxy color) to replace an old non-locking mailbox present when I purchased the house in 1998. Having just had the outside of the house painted, it was time for a new mailbox. The Mail Boss 7160 was larger than I had envisioned and initially I was concerned that it was too large. However after installing the mailbox to the house, as the days go by, I am more and more pleased with this purchase.The mailbox is big enough to hold a weeks worth of mail, the lock is easy to use as long as the use the correct key! I like the red flag to notify the post person of outgoing mail. The mail box has a clip enclosed for outgoing letters, and I have already figured out that I will need a small clip on a short string for larger outgoing items. Not a problem.It looks great on the house, the neutral galaxy gray color goes well with the house color, and it was easy to install. I gave three stars for the lock, as the lock is a standard lock, nothing special, but it provides better security for my mail than what I had previously.

I recently purchased my own building for my law practice, and the existing mailbox was clearly subpar. My clients frequently come by when I am out to leave money or documents with personal identification information on them (paycheck stubs, tax returns, etc.), so I needed something secure. I also needed a mailbox that would hold a large volume of mail and one with a place I could leave outgoing letters for the postman.I did a thorough online and in-person (at local home centers) investigation and ordered the Mail Boss. I am not disappointed. The mailbox is constructed of heavy-gauge steel with a sturdy lock. A determined thief will be able to go anywhere and get anything he wants, but he'll have a heck of a time with this mailbox. The door covering the mail slot is held closed with strong magnets, and, inside the door, there is a clip for holding outgoing mail. The flag (which can be attached to either side of the box) alerts the mailman there is mail to pick up. Though I installed the mailbox in a location that might be considered "covered", it is still exposed to considerable weather. That said, I've not had any problem with either outgoing or incoming mail getting wet.Mounting instructions are clear and abundant hardware for attaching to various surfaces is included. However, if you're attaching to masonry, I'd suggest getting a hammer drill and using Tapcon brand screws - they worked perfectly for me.I highly recommend this product - you can't go wrong on this one.

This mailbox is worth the price. Will hold several days worth of mail. No more worries about checks being stolen. I’ve already went through identity theft once! You have no idea of the problems it causes. 7 years later and it still shows up on my credit report.

Love this mailbox. It’s nice and sturdy unlike the ones at Home Depot. It was easy to mount and it’s big too. I was tired of my old mailbox filling up with just one days worth of mail. Completely satisfied with this purchase.

I bought a locking mailbox from a big box store for almost as much money and it fell apart within 6 months. Saw this on Amazon and decided to go for it after seeing other reviews. It is solid. It has a good lock and has a flag for outgoing mail (a must for me). The mail slot is too small for a hand to get through, but also too small for prescription bottles. It's still the best locking mailbox I've found, so I'm not looking anymore.

This is a solid, and heavy, all metal construction mailbox with a high quality lock, an excellent value. Because of the all metal construction, I was able to drill holes on the back panel and attach mailbox to a chainlink fence using fence metal clips without complications. Very happy with our purchase.

Heavy duty, built like a brick ‘ahem’ house. Not the prettiest thing in the world; on the other hand, a simple design that functions well. It has every appearance of doing the job of keeping our mail safe and secure, down to the key. Definitely not flimsy like the boxes you find at Home Depot. Holds a lot of mail - a large letter compartment that can hold magazines and mail for days.

Almost perfect. After a frozen rain, the lock froze for a week.

As expected

Mounted box - it seemed great - however, if it rains the mail is wet. First time we received wet mail I thought it was the mail carrier. Mail delivered Saturday retrieved today (Monday) was wet from rain on Sunday. Not good.

Perfect for my needs. Quality construction and you can have people without a key still put something in there and you can leave something on the clip in the top opening so someone without a key to the inside can access it to retreave what you left them. I installed it on masonry so I had to get a masonry bit to drill the holes for it. It is not totally secure because if someone wanted the mailbox they could with some effort get it to come off the wall. But it would take some time and be a bit noisy. I would highly recommend it.

Seriously built, high quality, very impressive functionality.The size is such that you should carefully think about where you will mount it.

I am very pleased with this mailbox. It is quite study and looks good mounted on our house. I would recommend having a professional mount it.

Love the thing. It's bigger than my previous box, so it takes a bit of getting used to. Easy to install!
