Energy Top Plus - Low Profile Damper Suitable for Wood Burning Fireplaces, 13" x 13"

The damper inside our flu rusted and fell apart after 25 years and the outside facing is built with granite stone which meant taking that all apart! My husband did some research and luckily found this before beginning demolition. It solves 3 problems: it mounts on top of the chimney so no need for demolition, it provides a cover over the flu so no more rain water coming down the chimney and thirdly it provides a significant savings of heat. Typically I can always feel a slight breeze where I sit in the living room caused by the fireplace drawing heat up the chimney. Not any more! We were wondering if it was going to be difficult to pull down the cable to close the damper due to reviews we read but it was not, actually I find it to be easy.

I had bugs and cold air seeping into my two fireplaces so I had a couple National Chimney Premier Damper Caps installed. I had issues from the start. The seal was obviously not air tight (I could hear the outside noise when I stick my head in the fireplace) and the operation was rough. Luckily the installers said if I wanted a different brand I could let them know and they would order and install. Upon my research online and talking to other chimney maintenance companies, the consensus seems to be that the US Fireplaces Energy Top Plus is the most effective and best cap on the market. The installers came back and replaced the caps with the Energy Top Plus. What a huge difference that made as I could tell immediately while opening and closing. The operation is smooth and easy and actually seems air tight when closed. This product looks similar to other products from other manufacturers but they are NOT the same. It has a lifetime warranty and is made in the US (as is other competitive models). If you want a high quality product, I highly recommend the Energy Top Plus. I

I purchased the Dimplex Model CDFI-BX1500 for my new home construction. The box arrived a little damaged and I did not open the box because I did not think the insides were damaged. I could not install the fireplace at the time anyway. I ran out of money during my construction and had to stop building for 1 year. After 1 year of saving money, I restarted construction. I opened the box and to my surprise the fireplace was damaged badly. The firebox was not useable. To document the unboxing I took video. I called US Fireplace and sent them the video and explained my situation. They told me that the firebox was not under warranty anymore even though the unit comes with a 2 year warranty. Be careful before spending $7500 dollars with US Fireplace.
