Great machine. Perhaps a little heavy to push on ...
Great machine.Perhaps a little heavy to push on a rising slope but then I am 80 years old. The 5 bladed cutter gives a superb closely spaced uniformly cropped appearance ; The cut height must be the easiest adjustment of any on the market and the sound of the machine being used is most satisfying. The design of the machine has been proven over many , many years with only minor &minimal alteration & the fact that it has been used for so many years as the chosen machine by cricket pitch groundsmen has recommended its use.If you really want your cut grass to look mangled & torn, buy a flymow or a 2 bladed electrtc &risk mowing the cable. Now all I need is the ability to permenantly kill the dasies & sphagnum moss .

Basic, but value for money.
Easy to use and put together, a lot lighter than the older models so easier to push. With more blades you get a better finish, time will tell if the plastic bits have a long life span. Adjusting the blade height and roller height is easy, some people don't like the fabric grass box but it takes up less room in the shed. Overall " being new" at the moment it appears good value for money.

A good way to kill your lawn
On unpacking the mower you will realise that it is mainly plastic not metal. A little disappointing in my mind. The instructions are all in English, but poor at explaining how to assemble. The assembly is actually quite easy, though. I used this today to cut fresh turf. I had set it to the highest setting. At the start it barely touched it which I guess was okay, however, it looked really bad. However, as I went over the same bits it started to get lower and look good. However, I soon realised that the cutting length on the top setting was essentially on the floor and has potentially ruined the lawn.It turns out that the front roller slips back as you mow the lawn. No kind of warnings to this. You would expect the tighteners to have some kind of lock or for a very big warning in the manual and perhaps a sticker on the mower - something like (BEWARE: If grass if cutting too short check that the front roller hasn't slipped lower).Ultimately, the turf company says that the cut I have made may kill the lawn (it took 4 days to prepare and lay and cost another £200 for turf and soil). Alternatively, it may be that the lawn is just poor quality if it grows back.So after months of preparation and hard work, this mower has potentially killed it all in one hour. The mower itself is probably worth four stars, but this design flaw and failure to advise customers results in a two star rating.I feel that I have been generous, and if the lawn looks poor in a month I will downgrade to one star.

Sysiphus’ punishment in mower form
An easier, lower effort and better option would be to cut your grass with a knife and fork. It works quite well at flattening the lawn, but completely useless at actually cutting grass.

the handles are bendy and it does not seem to cut as low as the old Qualcast Super Panther that it has replaced
This is decidedly not the tool that its predecessor was. It is very light, the handles are bendy and it does not seem to cut as low as the old Qualcast Super Panther that it has replaced. I doubt that it will last anywhere near as long either. The benefit of the fabric grass box over metal is questionable. However, on the positive side, using it is effortless and it does the job that I wanted it to do very well. I am not sorry that I bought it.

It does this wonderfully. Quick to assemble and very easy to push
I wanted a Lawnmower that would put stripes on the lawn. It does this wonderfully. Quick to assemble and very easy to push. A great little mower.

Well-built and mows well.
I've had this mower for over a month now. It is relatively well made with the moving parts made of metal, but there is a bit of plastic in this mower. Also, as others have mentioned, the handlebars could be better - they do get loose and have come off the retaining pins on occasion, but they are not terrible. The mower height and blades can be adjusted. The blade adjustment can be made very precisely - this is something you simply must do. The mower height is also adjustable, but this is done via plastic knobs and I fear for the lifetime of this mechanism. (why not use metal here???)The chain: the huge and heavy roller is coupled to the blades via a chain (it looks like a small bicycle chain). This can also be adjusted via a simple mechanism. I found I had to adjust mine on day 2. The chain can get loose and then can slip off, esp. when the mower was moved backwards. But after a couple of tries, I've got this adjusted relatively well.Mowing: This is a heavy mower. Also, it is probably best suited for large, relatively flat lawns. My lawn is on the smaller side and is definitely not flat. It also works best when the grass is relatively short. So you do need to mow often. If your grass is long, adjust the height to move the mower higher, and mow. Then gradually reduce the height. Once the grass is short enough, the mower moves very easily and does a great job.It is a quiet mower. So you can use it on a Sunday afternoon without bothering anybody. It is heavy so the grass does get nicely rolled. But that also means it can be difficult to carry it. The mechanism seems to be sturdy and easily maintained (open side panel for oiling and adjustments). The use of plastic knobs is a bad decision as this will inevitably cause trouble in what is otherwise a good device.
