Feast by Firelight: Simple Recipes for Camping, Cabins, and the Great Outdoors [A Cookbook] Review: find a good camping spot - This book will make you want to pack a cooler, find a good camping spot, bring some friends, and cook a great meal outside! Emma does a great job of picking interesting, tasty recipes that can be done easily outside/on a camping trip. The recipes are easy to follow and most have a section for doing some prep work before, so then when you get outside its much easier! The stories and photos that go along with the recipes are delightful to read and inspiring! I made the zesty za'atar spice and fried an egg in it and mixed it into yogurt with gyro meat ... so good!! Can't wait to make more recipes from here and go camping this summer! Review: and two days later I've already made our first meal "Welcome to the garden Thai Curry" - so good my husband and I both had two huge helpings - This book is going to be in heavy rotation in my cookbook lineup. I've been cooking since I was a kid and already in the first recipe I tried, I learnt something I didn't know. Turns out that I don't need to peel organic carrots, who knew. The book arrived on a Thursday night, and two days later I've already made our first meal "Welcome to the garden Thai Curry" - so good my husband and I both had two huge helpings. The recipes are easy to follow, the notes are thoughtful, and the images make you want to pack a cooler bag with ingredients and head to the woods. My only regret is not getting a picture of our meal before it was gone!

What a wonderful cookbook! Simple ideas that come to life with Emma’s passion and excitement for delicious food prepared and eaten in nature. The pictures are amazing! Loved the helpful tips on how to prepare and making homemade condiments, dips, spreads and marinades. Making things special is in the details. Great for “glampers” who are looking to take their firecooked feasts up a notch or two.

Cool recipes, random nudity
I like the extras this cookbook has like tips on how to pack a cooler. The recipes are a bit extravagant for camping and I see our family making these at home over a backyard fire because they are too over the top to make on a real camping trip. Not very many photos of food and too many photos of other things, including 2 full page photos of naked adult women. Not sure why these made the cut for a cookbook but I will be cutting them out so my toddler can look through the book without being confronted by a naked adults.

A Must Have!
This book is a must-have for anyone planning a weekend camping trip, a day hike, or an afternoon picnic in their backyard. It is chock full of incredibly thoughtful tips & tricks for preparing and packing supplies and ingredients and jam-packed with easy to follow, mouth-watering recipes! I especially love how throughout the book are sensitive reminders and suggestions for how to leave no trace and be respectful of the natural land while still enjoying it to the fullest. Emma's passion for the outdoors, superior meals, and memorable shared experiences explode from every single page. I can't wait to get cooking!

Healthy recipes. Beautiful photography.
Love the recipes. On horribly hot summer days you can prepare an entire meal on a backyard grill.

Great cookbook, but not for camping!
This is a beautiful book with interesting recipes, but I would definitely not call it a cookbook for camping! The recipes are way too involved for camping and many have odd ingredients (dried seaweed and smoked sea salt for my popcorn?). If a recipe has more than 6 or 7 ingredients, it’s not practical for camping, and definitely not simple! It might be interesting to try and make your own graham crackers and marshmallows at home, but I’m not doing that for a camping trip! If this is how the author camps, I would love to see the size of vehicle and kitchen boxes she packs - and if she has time to do anything except cook while away!

Great ideas for glamping grub
I made several of the recipes in this book and liked them all. Obviously, these recipes are tried and true. Appreciate the instructions for prep at home vs. finishing in the wild.

I thought it would be recipes to cook by/over the campfire, but instead, it's recipes you have to prep before you head out to camp. It's also not simple at all. It's dozens of containers. It's dozens of things I personally don't stock in my pantry. It's mostly things you don't cook over campfire. It's a million things you need to prep and put together before eating. I'm not saying it doesn't sound good. But personally, it's more like things to have in a backyard picnic. I wouldn't have room to bring all of this in my little car. It's time consuming when I'd want to relax camping. I was disappointed. It's absolutely not a feast "by fire light" unless you're literally just eating beside a fire because it took you ALL DAY TO PREP IT lol
