Handy junction box for remote lighting system. Good value for money; only actually needed one.

There are three cable glands. For each gland there is a choice of three flexible inserts for different diameters of cable. There is also a box sealing gasket that for once fits properly and stays out. A piece of terminal block is also provided. Only bad point is the lid is retained by self tappers into plastic rather than set screws into brass inserts. Take care not to over-torque. There is just enough room inside the box to manage the three cables.

This 3-way Junction Box is relatively neat and as far as can be ascertained appears to be Waterproof. Firstly it needs to be mounted a flat and level surface otherwise it's a possibility that it will fracture (eg one of the mounting lugs could easily shear-off if too much uneven pressure is exerted or even worse, the case could potentially split). To overcome this possibility, rubber grommets were inserted beneath each mounting lug to take up any unevenness in the brickwork it was being mounted on. In addition, the cable compression-sleeves provided are barely adequate for 4mm cables and whatever cable size being used the compression methodology (ie the design of the Screw-Cap and Cable-Sleeves is such that it is very awkward to tighten and requires considerable effort to get a good seal). Lastly, the connector block is a relatively cheap addition - on each connector the cable clamping screws are too close together so that cable strands cannot protrude any significant amount beyond either screw, so not ideal. also it would be an improvement if there was some means of securing the connector-block to the base of the Junction Box - it's a bit of a short-cut to just supply it loose. So to summaries, if you just want a cheap Junction Box to do the job, this is adequate - but don't expect too much!
