After letting this comforter air out for a couple of days, I gave it a try. It is simply amazing. It is lightweight, extremely soft and comfortable. In my measurements, it is the same temperature as ambient room temperature but feels cooler to the touch. I wondered if it would be too cold as my core temperature cooled down during sleep (this is normal). The answer is: It does not. However, it does not get overly warm and uncomfortable in my mild climate (never below 68F or so). I wondered how this is possible. So, I did some searching and found an actual NASA website page that explains how this material works. You can read some key paragraphs from the NASA explanation of how this works below.“Beginning with the very first set of Outlast gloves, each Outlast product contains a lining that continuously interacts with the unique microclimate of the human body and the environment to moderate temperature from being too hot or too cold to being just right. Traditional clothing systems trap heat in during high activity. The human body naturally sweats to cool the skin, reducing the ability of clothing to keep the body dry and comfortable. Outlast technology, conversely, will keep individuals comfortable by absorbing body heat when too much is created, thereby diminishing the amount of moisture in their clothing. The clothing essentially stays drier and maintains its effectiveness. A “comfort zone” can also be sustained in cold- weather environments, as Outlast garments will release stored heat back to the body when it begins to chill or shiver.”“Within the Outlast products there are millions of microcapsules called Thermocules® that recycle stored energy by absorbing and releasing excess body heat to balance temperature. To insure durability against the rigors of everyday wear and tear, phase-change materials are placed into these Thermocules, which are very much like miniature ping pong balls, but much smaller at 1/2 to 1/20th the diameter of a human hair. Its not often i unbox a blanket, and the description on the box indicates the said contents are of a NASA material. Also i have never owned a blanket that actually works when it says it has cooling technology. I have a memory foam pillow that supposedly has cooling technology but i have yet to notice it, though the pillow is comfy.Finally with this top notch cooling blanket from the Dream Valley brand i have now encountered a blanket that claims to be of a cooling design which actually delivers what it claims to do.I was impressed with the initial cooling feeling with the blanket literally feeling like it was chilled when i unfolded it. After being bundled inside it for awhile, i still noticed a good deal of cooling effects.I am the type of person who will wake up in a sweat whether its due to an intense dream or the fact that my 8 month old kitten like to snuggle up against me, therefore causing the unwanted overheating. This blanket is perfect for both of those occurrences when they happen.I have no idea how this maintains a cooling level and blocks out body heat but i feel it has something to do with it being of a space age design.The material of the blanket is medium thin, with it having the same padding as a light style comforter.The outer material different form any blanket material i have ever seen. My kitten was a little tempted to chew on it due to the different way it feels. I was able to stop her before it became a habit which was good.This worked great to evenly distribute my body heat after i was wrapped up in it for awhile. I quickly found out that by leaving the blanket half on and half off; i was able to control that cooling versus heat effect nicely.The price pf this is a bit expensive; but i can honestly say its worth it because this feels like a special blanket experience and is not overrated.To sum up my feeling om this futuristic blanket, i am very happy with it. Its sort of like a sleeping luxury because it is by no means essential, but if you have the money to spend on it i highly suggest you do.

I have to say, I have NEVER spent this much on a comforter for our bed, that no one will ever see except us, but ohmagoodness am I glad I took the plunge!!! When I first pulled this from the box, I instantly checked my order information. Haha I ordered "cool grey" but by golly it looks very light blue in every room I have looked at it in, plus the edge seams are very much blue, it's strange for being "cool grey." **keep that in mind if you want a true grey color** I can get past that. ;)Then I put it on our bed....it is so light, and thin, and buttery soft!!! I just kept thinking, there is no way I will be warm enough in this at night, there's no 'fluff!'. My husband, sure, he's the one that sleeps in just shorts. Me, I sleep in every item of clothing I have and put a blanket on top of my side of the comforter and am still cold. HAHABUT this light, thin, buttery soft comforter has proven me so wrong!!!!!Somehow, some way, we BOTH have been comfortable sleeping all night!!! I have been plenty warm, and he is still cool and comfortable! It is absolutely crazy to me how this material does it, but it really does!*The product description says this is reversible, but I can only assume it has to do with it being the same color on each side, and not anything to do with one side being cooler or one warmer, etc.*The fabric is a buttery and silky type of fabric, so it does slide around a tiny bit during the night, but not at all like I expected it to once I felt the material! We both stay covered just fine.*We have not yet had to wash it, and I have not come across any specific washing instructions so hoping for the best, and hoping for no shrinking.Given all that, I would 100% spend every penny again to buy another if I needed to!!! This has been the best comforter we have ever owned!!! Take the risk! You won't regret it!!

A lot of my reviews have pros and cons. This review is all pros. I have tried blankets that claimed to have similar benefits to this one, hoping something would keep me cool at night, none of them have ever impressed me, until now.I was happy from the moment I opened the box that this comforter came in. The mint color is exactly as shown in the pictures. The texture is hard to describe, its the softest thing I have ever felt, but also silky too. The material feels like it is made out of a cold glass of milk.Even with my first impression of this being so positive, I was still skeptical about the cooling feature. I live in a warm area, it's a little bit cooler now, but the summertime gets hot. Most nights, even now when it's snowing in the northern states, it's uncomfortably hot in my bedroom at night, so my air conditioner is always on. Well, not anymore! This comforter will be saving me a lot of money on my electric bill because I had to turn my AC off while using it. Every night since getting this, I have stayed perfectly cool. The material is so smooth and soft that it has helped me fall asleep faster than I used to.I love this comforter it is my absolute favorite piece of bedding that I own.If I could give 100 stars for this product I would! (And I am usually a very critical person, I have never written a review like this, but I had to share with everyone thinking about purchasing this product how amazing it is!)

This blanket is silky soft and the exterior has a cool feel to it when touched. I used this blanket both with and without a sheet under it to test it out. With a sheet I did not feel the cooling effect at all. Without a sheet, when it first contacted my skin, it did feel cool. However, within minutes I was too hot again. I was hoping I'd found a blanket that I could keep on me at night and not overheat. This blanket is not it. I also think the price is too high, especially since it is minimally cooling.
