I tell all my students to get this rosin!
I think this is one of the best rosins on the market! It grips well to the strings and I notice a better tone from my violin when I use this rosin compared to others. I Wish it had a better case then just putting it in the box pictured next to it. At least the box isn't flimsy and paper thin. Having the soft cloth to wrap around it is also very nice. Make sure after buying this, or any rosin to scuff it up with a pin or something. It will adhere better to the hair on your bow that way.

My new favorite rosin for my viola
I love this rosin it looks beautiful, and is very easy to get started with! It really resonates a deeper tone from my viola and I noticed I'm way less prone to squeaks. The rosin dust does not build up on the strings nearly as much as other rosins. I like that the cloth protects your fingers from touching the bow hairs or the rosin. I highly recommend cleaning your bow or start with a fresh bow when using this rosin to really experience it's beautiful sound! It doesn't feel overly sticky but still functions with enough grip to pull out sound. It was a little pricey compared to what I was use to using but it was well worth it!

My go-to product
I’ve tried many types of rosin through my years of playing and this Pirastro Oliv rosin is something I always go back to for some reason. It’s a good rosin and that’s all I can really say.

I didn't know it could make such a difference!
After experimenting with several different kinds of strings, I happily settled on Evah Pirazzi for my violin. I've never thought much about rosin, but somehow I managed to lose the rosin I'd had for probably 30+ years. So I read various reviews, without much hope for a clear answer. This Pirastro rosin caught my eye, though, since they say it's made specially for EP strings. Also, in the reviews I read, everyone liked it. It turns out I like it too. A lot! It has a nice kind of bite. Maybe as if the rosin is fine grained? Like it's grippy and also smooth, giving a bright, clear tone. I'm reminded of the slogan they have for Evah Pirazzi strings: "I'm so happy, I can't stop playing!"

Brings the tone forward
I refurbish older and often abused violins. Many times the low end lacks depth and volume. This rosin brings those notes out in a rich and warm voice. I wouldn't bother with any other. If you have allergies, like me, the low dust of this rosin can help a bit.
