Wow! This is the best open trap bar available, period. (And here's a simple way to balance it...) For a long time I was looking for a used BioTest Dead-Squat bar, but the only ones I could find were either too far away from me or were $750. Then I found this bad boy and my search was over -- the advantage of this bar over the Dead-Squat bar is obviously that this has an open design. There's tons of room inside this compared to a standard hex bar. And with the addition of a few simple holes you could easily make another grip option a few inches wider if you wanted to have a wider grip to tax the upper body more. Fortunately for me this is not the rackable kind because it would be too long and too unwieldy for my workout space. Others have complained that the bar is not balanced but it is very easy to move your grip forward to find the balance point. OR you can simply put a ten pound plate on the back horns (which balance quite well) and then your grip will be perfectly centered with the handles (as shown in the photo). Installation was simple as well. (Hint: the grips get two washers, one of each type.) I will pass this on to my great grandchildren in my will or find a way to take it with me to the afterlife.

More like 3 1/2 stars. Very solid piece of equipment, good knurling, not too aggressive yet gives a good grip. As others have noted, it is very unbalanced, much more so than other open trap bars I’ve used. You need to experiment with the grip to be able to use this bar effectively. Instructions are terrible - no words, no directions as to what size tools to use for assembly (hint - you need 5/8 inch wrench) not even a step by step procedure, just an exploded diagram (2nd hint - don’t tighten anything until you have all bolts in place, they didn’t line up precisely). With better design in terms of balancing the bar, this could be an excellent piece of equipment.

This is a great bar. I’ve tried several others that were too bulky or long but this one works great and doesn’t need its own section of my garage for storage! Solidly constructed.

I have been deadlifting for years and wanted to add a trap bar to me home gym. The bar is a bit shorter than some, but works for my space. I have gone to 405 pounds and not sign I cannot go higher. The bar is also working well for me to to chest supported rows, RDLs, and SDLs. The ability to load using the legs is an appreciated feature in this open design.
