Very hot to handle but OK
I just got the 12cm version of this. The solid bronze handles are alarmingly hot to the touch so very careful handling when cooking is essential. I burnt my thumb when I first used this to cook rice. It is a great pleasure to polish this up till it is gleaming - the look of real copper is stunning. They are now making Tri-ply copper pans which are one third of the price of '90%' copper pots. (Tri-ply copper ranges now available at Sainsburys, J Lewis & M&S) I may go for a Tri-ply next time - the cost of the 'real thing' is insane. It is an extravagant luxury to have a genuine Mauviel pot - so get a small one - the bigger ones are simply OTT pricewise.

Redefines Awsome
Yea, I up and splurged on a pot. This pot is better than great. It cooks beyond well, feels real and the handles are still tight. And oh, did I tell you it looks good? Wow. You see that beautiful clean, sparkly copper? Forget that. This pot looks like it belongs on a bond fire. All shades of black rolling in and out against all shades of copper, but one look inside reveals a shiny stainless steel pot looking like the day I first opened the box.

Excellent quality, even cooking
Simmers nicely, even heat distribution, and of course, it's beautiful! On the downside, you can pretty much count on the handles being too hot to touch, and you can skip going to the gym after you've picked it up a few dozen times. One small tip: we shove wine or champagne corks under the handles of all our Mauviel lids, to give you something to grip that won't burn your fingers.
