The handle is metal and for the price its hard to complain
Update: It's been 1.5 years now and the blades are holding up perfectly. They've been through the dishwasher a lot and they haven't shown any signs of discoloration, they have held their edge well and are still pinned together really well. . I should have mentioned in my original review that these have shallower teeth than what I prefer. It makes them cut "neater" but not as easily as larger ones. This has nothing to do with sharpness etc but is simply a fact about the height of the serrations. Original: I feel like I've been giving a lot of things 5 stars lately but I also feel like I'm one of the few who takes price into consideration. Anyway... Right out of the box they seem great. It's quite obvious that they are meant to be sold in a big box store. Otherwise the money spent on the display box they were delivered in seems like such a waste of money. It's high quality and I guess I could see someone keeping them in it for storage. But at $25 - $30 (for 8) mine are going in my old knife block, or they will be pilled on top of each other in a drawer organizer. Now onto the knives. I've only had them for about a week (8/3/19) and haven't run them through the dishwasher yet. So once I do that I'll update this if issues start to arise. But they seem solidly built. The three pins that mount the handles, to the Tang, look strong enough to handle some abuse. I included a bunch of pictures - to help you understand their scale, and to also show some features, that may turn you off from them. The first two compare them to an old set of cheap steak knives that came in a set (with a wood knife block). As you can see the handle is narrower than those but it is still comfortable in the hand and doesn't slip. I'm a 6' tall man if that helps. The third picture is also for scale. Pictures 4 & 5 show the side and top of what some people find questionable. It's the gap created by the butterfly logo and I've seen some people comment that it makes them they look like foldable blades. TBH that was my biggest concern but in when they arrived they looked much better than I thought. The 6th pic just shows that the handles are ferrous, so they are indeed metal, even if they feel a bit "tinny" I'm glad they are metal so they won't crack over time. In the end they are definitely worth the money, they cut well (so far) and the quality is beyond the asking price. Please mark this as helpful (if it was) so I know it's worth me taking the time to write these longer reviews with pictures.

Very sleek and easy to use
Its been about 3 years since we purchased our last set of steak knives. I Wanted to but a new set of steak knives for my husband. I got these for him as an early Christmas gift. He absolutely loved it. It was nice to have this set of 8. These knives are gorgeous. I am even going to buy a set for my brother. Its a nice set of sturdy steak knives at a good price. Easy to handle , as they are fairly sleek. Nice and sharp. They fir nicely in my hands and are constable to hold. Only complaint i would have is that it would be nice if it came with a case or compartment to put them in after its been used and washed. From the sleek and solid design to the high quality stainless steel blades. they cut through our steak dinner effortlessly and even sleek and nice to use with chicken. We love and would recommend for the price.

Sharp - both in looks & function!
I've been on the hunt for a simple, yet smart looking set of steak knives. The set that came in our butcher block has seen much, much better days! They're dull and starting to fall apart. Plus, there were only 6 of them initially. I intentionally wanted a set with 8 knives - to match our silverware place settings. We use a pattern by Lenox for our silverware - it's a sharp, silver set with an elegant, yet simple pattern. I feel that this knife set - with minimal pattern/decoration - perfectly compliments our silverware when set at the table. Plus, these knives are SHARP! Wowzers - the other night - before it started torrential raining in the Midwest, we grilled a few steaks. These knives sliced through the steak like butter! So much better than our existing set of steak knives in the butcher block that I mentioned earlier in my review. It's important to me to have sharp knives around because of my arthritic hands - I don't have the ability to "put some muscle into it" to cut meat, veggies, etc. My hands are grateful for this set! Did I mention that this set came in a beautiful gift box? It would have been perfect if I had purchased this set as a gift! In fact, as we were enjoying our steaks, I asked my spouse to brainstorm with me if there was anyone we knew who needed a set of steak knives - because I was going to buy a second set! lol! Overall, I'm pleased with this purchase and would definitely recommend buying to others.

Fine, but know what you're getting
Saw these on Amazon and couldn't believe the price for what it was. Turns out, I guess you can call any Laguiole-style knives "Laguiole". First off, the knives are fine. They cut well and feel good in my hand. The only thing that took me aback was the light weight of them. They are definitely not the substantial weight of a 'real' Laguiole steak knife. Once you get past that, they're fine. But I prefer the weight of the real thing.

Good quality, sharp to cut meat, long lasting
Very good quality, dishwasher safe, I got them almost 3 years ago and still sharp. Elegant and restaurant quality at home :) 100% recommended

Very lightweight
They look nice, but the handles are very light and seemed to be made out of plastic or some other light material.

Not good knives. Buy something. else.
Not good knives. I know it sounds odd, but they don't cut straight. They curve to the right when slicing. Not worth the money. FYI - I have never left a 1/5 review, ever!

I own a set of these knives that were made in the 1940's. I know they have an extensive lineage. A friend of mine has always commented, when over, how much he liked the knives and so for his 50th birthday last year, I purchased this set for him. I always smile, when I'm over for a barbecue at his place and they are made available when having a steak. The quality equally has not changed. This would make a nice and cherished present for a buddy of yours.

Kein Laguiole Messer sondern chinesische Billigware. Rückerstattung des Kaufpreises vom Lieferanten verweigert. Rechtliche Schritte scheinen erforderlich.

Es un cuchillo de muy buen acero, con una estética moderna, de muy buen peso, con excelente sistema de corte..... especialmente para carnes. Resultó de gran calidad para las carnes asadas.
