Compact Powerhouse
The Sonos Roam 2 is a Compact Powerhouse for Audio Enthusiasts on the Go When it comes to portable speakers, the Sonos Roam 2 has carved out a niche for itself by blending sleek design with stellar performance. This second iteration of the Roam series builds upon its predecessor's success while refining features that make it an appealing choice for audiophiles and casual listeners alike. Let’s dive into what makes the Sonos Roam 2 a standout device in the increasingly crowded world of portable audio. Design and Portability The Sonos Roam 2 retains the elegant, minimalist design that defines the Sonos brand. Weighing just under a pound, its compact, triangular shape fits comfortably in one hand, making it perfect for travel or outdoor adventures. The durable, IP67-rated casing ensures the Roam 2 is both water-resistant and dustproof, an essential feature for those who want to take their music to the beach, pool, or hiking trails. The slightly improved tactile controls and modern aesthetic are a testament to Sonos’ attention to user-friendly design. Sound Quality Sonos has a reputation for delivering high-quality audio, and the Roam 2 is no exception. For a speaker of its size, the sound is remarkably full and balanced. The crisp highs, clear mids, and punchy bass ensure an immersive listening experience, whether you’re enjoying a podcast or a bass-heavy playlist. The speaker features Auto TruePlay technology, which adjusts the sound based on its surroundings, creating an optimal audio profile whether indoors or outdoors. This feature, in particular, sets the Roam 2 apart from many competitors, who often struggle with sound quality in varied environments. Battery Life One of the most notable upgrades in the Sonos Roam 2 is its extended battery life. With up to 15 hours of playtime on a single charge, it offers a significant improvement over the original Roam’s 10-hour lifespan. Additionally, the device supports wireless charging via Qi-compatible pads, as well as a USB-C cable for those who prefer traditional charging methods. This versatility ensures that you’ll never be without your favorite tunes for long. Smart Features and Connectivity The Sonos Roam 2 truly shines in its smart features. Built-in support for Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant means that voice commands are just a call away. Setting alarms, controlling smart home devices, or queuing up playlists is seamless and hands-free. The speaker also supports Apple AirPlay 2, enabling easy streaming from iOS devices. Moreover, the ability to switch effortlessly between Wi-Fi at home and Bluetooth when on the move ensures a smooth and hassle-free experience. One of the unique selling points of the Sonos Roam 2 is its integration within the broader Sonos ecosystem. Pair it with other Sonos speakers for synchronized, multi-room audio, or use it in stereo mode with a second Roam 2 for an enhanced auditory experience. This level of versatility is rare among portable speakers and makes the Roam 2 a valuable addition to any home audio setup. Drawbacks While the Sonos Roam 2 excels in many areas, it is not without its shortcomings. While the bass performance is impressive for its size, true bass aficionados might feel it falls short when compared to larger, more powerful speakers. Conclusion The Sonos Roam 2 is a stellar upgrade to an already impressive portable speaker. In short, the Sonos Roam 2 is a compact powerhouse that doesn’t compromise on quality, making it one of the best portable speakers available today.

Excellent Speaker, Easy to Pair with Alexa, Great patio and portable speaker.
Overall, this is an excellent speaker. Great sound as one would expect from Sonos. Easy to mount with the Chunxaio speaker holder. Great build quality. Super easy to pair with Alexa but instructions don't come in the box - you need to go to "Sonos/support/Article/Set up Amazon Alexa with voice-enabled Sonos Speaker". It connected right up and was playing my Amazon play list in minutes. I live in humid Florida and worry about a nice outdoor speaker getting mold. This one is waterproof but I plan to bring it in anytime we're not listening to it. It's very easy to remove from the holder to do so. It's very good value for the money, easy to use and is a great addition to our patio. The added bonus is it's portability. We can take it anywhere.

Best portable speaker over ever had, and I’ve got some miles with other brands.
Battery life: incredibly long lasting and smart(will power off after inactivity if you want. Function: everything you need a speaker to do and can pair with other Sonos speakers including soundbars. Quality: I view Sonos as the Apple of the speakerverse, so yes it’s the highest quality you can get at this price point. Setup: this is where it gets difficult, I hear of the Sonos app having major issues, but I have yet to encounter them. Keep this in mind. The actual setup process is awesome, the best part is where it plays a passkey tone to verify it’s communicating with the correct device. Fairly simple. Probably the most important part is the sound quality, which is better than most competitors, I’ve had a beats pill, jbl, skullcandy & other generic portable speakers, this one is THE one, it fills my house with ease, I can hear it loud and clear on the opposite end of my house it’s sitting in. If you have the money and are debating whether to get this I would advise against getting anything other than this as it’s not even on the same level as its “competition”.

Underwhelming performance
So, the positives right up front. Very small and portable. Simplistic but stylish. Easy to use and setup. Love the dedicated Bluetooth. Comes well packaged from Sonos. Very small and for its size, puts out good volume. Now the potential cons. I have a Sonos Arc and the Sonos Move (1st Gen). Got them both for a great sale price and the sound quality never ceases to impress me. Especially the Move, which even at very high volumes plays great music from rock, country and rap. I bought the roam to be more portable than my Move, which I use on the deck, poolside or at small gatherings. The Roam was more for hiking, beach trips and casual listening washing the car, etc. I have to say I am not impressed. It sounds decent at its highest volume although you can tell you’ve reached its limit. I never feel like any of my other Sonos products have hit a limit even at 100% volume. It also sounds almost flat and very mono sounding vs steep or simulated stereo. Worse, it’s okay with rock or country or anything that has very little bass, but don’t try and play any kind of rap or hip hip. The bass is almost non-existent and really makes it feel like you’re pushing the speakers beyond their capabilities. Granted, most small portable like this would have similar issues, but when I listen to my sons JBL Flip 5, which costs less than half the price, I feel like the bass is much richer and the sound is louder, but of relatively similar quality as the Sonos, which is very disappointing. Maybe I’m missing the mark on its intended use, but I don’t think so. For small sound and high portability, it’s okay, but feels overpriced when compared to a couple others for what it offers. Would have considered a slightly larger roam in its 2nd generation for larger speakers or drivers or a dedicated bass port. I’ll have to sample it for a while and along others. I’m on the fence keeping it vs returning it. I’ll update my decision later. UPDATE: okay, after using it down at the beach, I would have to say my opinion has changed some. While I still would like a bit more volume, it’s pretty good for small spaces and close to me or around the pool or campfire. Sound has grown on me for most music and I recognize what it is for its ultra portability. Battery life is good and it’s been easy to pair. Loud enough to enjoy, but not so loud as to annoy others around me at the beach. I bought it at full price for $179. If you wait for Prime Day or other major sales days, it drops to $143, which is a much more reasonable price where it’s worth it.

Sonos delivered
I’ve had Sonos speakers for many years. Was looking for a way to easily bring music outdoors without unplugging my indoor speakers, then I ran across the Roam 2. So I thought, why not give it a shot. That was a week ago, I’ve since bought a second one to balance the music in the backyard. These are working so well I ordered a 3rd speaker for better backyard coverage. These were so easy to set up using the app, and only took couple minutes tops. Can group with other indoor speakers for music continuity in/out of the house. Only thing I would change, is the volume output. I have to nearly double the volume of outdoor speakers to match the volume. But I get it, I am working against the ambiant noise outdoor… not a knock, more of a wish list. Great deal, great quality, small with big sound.

Positive feedback
I recently purchased the Sonos Roam 2, and I couldn t be more impressed with its performance. From the moment I unboxed it, the sleek design and lightweight build stood out, making it incredibly convenient to carry around. The sound quality is exceptional for a speaker of its size. The bass is deep and rich, while the mids and highs are crisp and clear. Whether I'm using it indoors or taking it on outdoor adventures, the audio remains consistently powerful and immersive. One of my favorite features is the seamless integration with both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Switching between the two is effortless, and the battery life is impressive, easily lasting through long listening sessions. The waterproof and durable build gives me peace of mind when using it near water or in rugged conditions. Setting up the Roam 2 was a breeze with the Sonos app, and the smart features like voice control and automatic Trueplay tuning enhance the listening experience. Overall, the Sonos Roam 2 is a fantastic portable speaker that delivers top-notch sound quality, durability, and smart features. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a versatile, high-performance speaker!

Holy crud So is is still horrible
Also, sound is disappointing. I didn't expect good bass but Ick. No. I apologize for the stream of consciousness review but this is also the fault of Sonos and the fact that I don't have anything more in me today after needing all the therapy I need for this issue and the previous issues that go back years and years. Can't update then registered then it updated then it said it wasn't registered. Then it said it couldn't update. Then after 15 other errors it told me I had to update the system (whatever that is, as it's not at all clear) then it had me press the two buttons which it had already had me do and then it claimed that worked which it had obviously claimed three times already which was still untrue. Buttons were difficult to press. It told my wife's Sonos app that she wasn't the account owner even though she is. As an IT professional these are all disturbing and appealing issues. I knew there were issues with households so I guess I shouldn't have bought a new Sonos device but I would have thought problems would get fixed even though those problems shouldn't have gone unfixed for so long. Clearly there are still serious issues. I can't do anything because I'm "not the owner." Can I not be designated as an owner? I bought a Roam 2 and I'm not the owner and I can't register it??? Couldn't add the speaker to Alexa even though we already have the Sonos skill enabled. There were literally 20 different problems and it was a major thing and now you owe me money for therapy and probably drugs. Sonos support was not helpful. Sonos forums were also not helpful as multiple people have been asking the same questions for years and not getting a correct answer. Sonos support instructions for adding Sonos were incomplete. Woefully incomplete. Are the problems because there's an old version of the app and new version of the app? I saw a lot of people online saying they had one or two speakers on the old app and then other speakers on the new app. None of the instructions I found for adding it to Alexa were accurate. None of them were even close to accurate.

"Easy setup" does not even cover it...
I bought this Sonos speaker and my whole system fully expecting to spend the afternoon arguing with cables, instructions, and possibly my own sanity. Spoiler: none of that happened. Setup was so easy, I thought I did it wrong. I plugged it in, tapped a few buttons, and suddenly my living room sounded like a VIP section I’m definitely not cool enough to be in. Even my WiFi behaved, which never happens. Sonos must use wizard magic or something. The sound? Incredible. Crisp highs, deep bass, and just loud enough that my neighbors now know my entire playlist, including the songs I pretend not to like and dont even get me started on how Top Gun: Maverick sounds!!. My favorite part is how it connects every room. I can walk from the kitchen to the bathroom like I’m doing my own stadium tour. My dog didn’t sign up for this concert, but he’s fully committed now. If you want a stereo system that sounds amazing and makes you feel smarter than you actually are, Sonos is it. 10/10 would recommend — even if you only buy it to flex on guests when they ask, “Wait… how’d you set this up so fast?”
