Good replacement for original ice maker
The old ice maker in our Frigidaire refrigerator (~15 years old) had quit cycling. I could force the cycle manually, but was only successfully getting ice on occasion. Instead of continuing to mess with it, I found this third-party compatible replacement. It was a quarter of the cost of the actual unit. There were no instructions included. It does come with screws and a small mounting bracket, if your freezer uses 3 screws instead of 2. Our model only used 2. Found a YouTube video on how to replace the unit (before purchasing it, so I basically knew what to do). I would recommend finding one, just so you know what your doing. The overall process was easy. The hardest part is the 2 screws needed to remove the old unit are not in the most easy to access location. I found using a screwdriver with a socket adapter made it easier than using a flat head (screws supported either). Once it was unscrewed, there is a single cluster of cables that needs to be unhooked. The new unit plugged in easily and again the hardest part was the screws. It basically hangs on the screws. I was able to insert the screws into the freezer first, then slip the new ice maker over the screw, then tighten. You do need to also make sure the water dispenser from the freezer is completely inserted in the cup at the end, so the water will go in the ice maker and not all over the freezer. The ice maker will not run until the freezer is back up to temperature. About an hour after installing the new unit, we heard the water run. Less than an hour later, we heard the sound of ice being dumped in the tray. Roughly every hour or so, we've continued to hear ice being dumped. So in the short-term, the new ice maker seems to be working flawlessly. Will update review if that changes, but so far it is working great.

Works great
I've used it a while. It still makes some hollow ice cubes. After $500 in plumbing and $50 for a new filter, I wish I'd just bought the OEM ice maker too. This is just not that great. It's ok. It makes ice but a lot of it is still hollow. I have not requested a replacement from the seller, but I'm thinking I probably should. 3 stars. Meh. Update 8/28/2024. Replumbed the ice maker line with 3/4" copper to a 3/4" x 3/4" x 1/2" T, 1/2" copper all the way to the shutoff valve and normal braided flexible hose from valve to refrigerator. Water flow and pressure are now great to the refrigerator. Filter replaced as well. Ice maker is working better with some solid cubes, but still producing some hollow ones. It initally was making hollow ice cubes, but I checked my line and had very low water flow on the icemaker line. Replacing the water filter also did not resolve it. Replumbed the water line and its doing better, but not sure that's completely the issue. The old OEM ice maker was making solid cubes even with low flow, it just had a broken tang and sometimes jammed up. I need to let this one run and see how it does for 24-48 hours. On 8/24 I reached out to the seller as it was past the 30 day return period. (I was slow to install it.) They offered some links about things that might cause the hollow cubes, but also said they would replace the unit if I was convinced the problem was with the unit. So that's a positive on the support. I may or may not need to take them up on that. I'll review the links they sent to see if there is some adjustment I can make to the icemaker itself. If not, probably will request that replacement unit. It's making hollow ice cubes. The old one didn't do that, but it may be low flow into the refrigerator or other issues. I'll reach out to the seller as well as replace the water filter and check the water line

Replaced Frigidaire Ice Maker Perfectly!
We have a fridge/freezer that works perfectly (about 9 year old Frigidaire), but the ice maker has been giving some problems for a while. It was finally time to get a new one. We thought we'd have to call someone and it would be a service fee plus no idea how much to actually "fix" the thing. I thought I'd check Amazon just to see what was available. This popped up and I didn't think there was anyway a $50 replacement would actually fit our freezer. However, after looking at it closely, it appeared the same in the photos as what was currently installed. Next stop, YouTube to see if we could actually replace it ourselves. The YouTube made it look easy (unplug the fridge, couple of screws to loosen - not remove, and unplug the connector). No weird wires, or water tubes, or anything you would think is super complicated. We order it... and it's an exact match for our maker. The un-installation and re-installation is a little trickier than we thought because you can't actually SEE what you're doing. You have to feel around where the screws are located (I actually look a photo with my phone to get an initial idea of what I was dealing with initially). And the plug connector had frozen together. I would do it again in a heartbeat - just plan more time than you think. As far as the ice itself - it seems to be same as the previous maker. I can't speak as to the amount if it's the same or less because ours has been on the last leg for some time. But from what I can tell, it will make enough for what we need and we are excited to have a reliable source of ice again!

Works good just make sure the connector is right for your frig.
Good product, been working fine for over a year. Only issue is the connector was not compatible with my refrigerator. I had to cut off the connector, remove the one from my old ice maker and splice it onto the new ice maker. I wasn't sure if I had the wires matched up correctly but I plugged it in and it been working fine. Check to make sure the connector is right for you application.

I'll reach out to the seller as well as replace the water filter and check the water line. ------------------Initial review------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I installed my unit on 8/22/2024. Does it work? I don't know yet. Overall, I'd say 4-1/2 stars. Since I can't give that, 4 then. Good value if it works and lasts. Deduction for wire bail hanging a little bit too low, catching ice bin slightly, and harness being a 3"-4" longer than the OEM unit, requiring rerouting wires a bit. Otherwise, so far so good and I'll update the review. I installed it 5 minutes ago so no idea if it functions or any idea of longevity yet. If it works and lasts at least 2-3 years, then totally worth it at 50 bucks. If it fails prematurely, I'll probably get an OEM unit. Although the OEM unit only lasted 5 years which I find pretty weak given my last one was still going strong on my last refrigerator 19 years in...when the refrigerator itself failed. I will update this review at various points: when I confirm it is working properly, then hopefully in a month or a year and eventually when it fails, if it does. It's similar to the original Frigidaire ice maker with a couple of differences: * The plug-in wiring harness was about 3" longer than the original, requiring me to re-route the wiring differently to avoid blocking the slide-in Ice bin * The on/off wire bail extends a little bit lower than the original when installed. It slightly catches/rubs the ice bin when sliding bin in and out, if the bail is in the down/on position. Easy enough to avoid by reaching in and turning it off. But I am 100% sure my wife will never remember to do that Installation is super easy and only takes a few minutes. Loosen (don't remove, just loosing about 1/4") two screws above ice maker that mount the icemaker to the freezer wall. Lift the unit off those screws. unplug the 4 prong connector. That's it. Pull it out. To reinstall new unit, plug the wiring harness back in matching the color coded wires accordingly, align the water tube at the back wall with the square "funnel" on the back edge, hang the unit on the two screws and tighten the screws back down. A 1/4" nutdriver is the only tool required. (or 1/4" socket with extension...) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
