Sharp blade, keep your fingers where they belong.
Sharp blade. I bought it to cut up some coconuts. I bought it to replace a Collins machete I bought a very long time ago, last century. It's still a good blade but needs sharpening and is too long for the work I need to do. This new blade has a comfortable grip and sturdy construction. The steel quality looks good and I'll write more notes when I use it a few times.

Cuts Like a Beast, Feels Like a Boss!
Let me be blunt: this machete means business. I didn’t buy it to cosplay Crocodile Dundee—I needed something to work. I’ve got overgrown brush, stubborn saplings, and a yard that fights back. This Mossy Oak machete? It wins every time. The 16” blade is sharp straight out of the box—not “paper test” sharp, but “slash-through-a-2-inch-thick-weed-tree” sharp. And the saw back isn’t some decorative gimmick. It chews through limbs, roots, and fence line nightmares like it’s got a personal vendetta. The no-slip handle is exactly that. I was sweating like a sinner in church and still had a solid grip the whole time. No blisters, no slipping, no regrets. The sheath? Basic but functional. Keeps the blade protected and my fingers where they belong. I’ve used this thing for: • Clearing fence lines • Trimming low-hanging branches • Garden cleanup • And one mildly terrifying snake situation It’s not a $100 survival blade—and it doesn’t need to be. This thing is durable, balanced, and ready to take abuse. If you’re looking for a backyard workhorse or a camp tool that’ll pull its weight, this is it.

This is a pretty good deal for a machete and sheath.
First of all, I bought this for the sheath, to use with another knife of this size. The other knife is a GTKII, and came with a kydex sheath that is big and bulky and heavy. This Mossy Oak sheath is the perfect size and weight, and also good quality, but the belt loop is too low. It has a tendency to make the knife cant at an angle. Fortunately, it's toward the front. I would still recommend this Mossy Oak knife. For the price, it's a real bargain. I'll probably keep it, because I've tried several sheaths and knife/sheath combinations, and nothing has worked. I'm tired of looking!

Can’t get enough of this thing.
Highly recommend. Perfect for zombie battle and/or weeding. Feel like a warrior while wielding this fine piece of equipment. Or feel moderately responsible for finally taking care of those weeds out back. Ride the best high of your life and feel adrenaline pumping through your veins like never before as zombie brains splatter your face. Or wrest satisfaction from helping out the elderly neighbor with his yard. 10/10 would recommend. Currently searching for a dual purpose chainsaw.

Disappointing Machete, Better Options Are Available
Looks aside, this has proven to be a disappointment in pretty much every aspect. Who knows what the blade is made from, but "high quality" should be taken with a grain of salt. The Mossy Oak branding looks and sounds good, but this is merely a cheaply made machete with their logo Stamped on it. Very generic otherwise. The blade itself, while can be sharpened, dulls very quickly just by moderate use. Spine is too thick to really slice through smaller soft stemmed branches. The serrated saw spine is too aggressive to be that useful and minimizes hand to tool coordination. The handle is just "ok". The sheath is a disappointment too. The serrated spine will chop away at the sheath material where it exits when removing the machete. Hard to get by unless you are really careful when removing. There are better options out there. If you really want value for your money, buy yourself a Tramontina Machete for under $30, pair it with a decent sheath if needed, and don't look back. For the money, there are much better options.
