Easy to install
Works really well. Installed over key, fixed firmly with grub screws and feels solid. Keypad with finger print recognition works reliably and quickly. Paired with Smart Things via matter and does all I need it to. For more tinkering in the Aqara app you need to be within Bluetooth range ie at home, but for the most part don't need to bother with Aqara app and can do all I need via Smart Things. Lots of functionality, some of which is limited if you have to lift the door handle before engaging the lock. Generally works quickly. Does make a bit of a grinding noise ie is loud but where I have it it doesn't disturb anyone.

Terrible quality control
On paper, this looks like a good solution to add an intelligent lock to my door - one of the only ones that would fit. Unfortunately, the vmbuild quality is abysmal. I have tried to install two now, only to discover that both suffered from (different) factory defects. If Aqara can't be bothered to do quality control before shipping, they could at least distribute an information sheet to tell purchasers how to spot defective items bore going through the trouble to install: if the thumbturn doesn't rotate freely out of the box, don't bother going any further and return the lock. Then, invoke calibration before installing. If the lock can not be seen to turn, it's defective, return it. Other notes: the unit is made of silvery plastic (not chrome metal), which isn't apparent in pictures. Set-up is fiddly and confusing, with various different QR codes, no clarity as to why one QR code is failing or Bluetooth not connecting.

Fantastic smart lock - ideal if you're in the Apple Ecosystem
This smart lock has a range of compatibility options for various UK door locks. Installation was very easy and initial pairing to Aquara home app was easy enough - just ensure that you update firmware straight away. For Apple Ecosystem; if you wish to unlock with your watch/phone you need to ensure you have a HomeKit enabled hub that has thread border chip - the apple HomePod mini and later Apple TV with ethernet are required or upgrade your doorbell to the G410 camera which has the thread border hardware and you will find installation pretty straightforward so long as your WiFI signal strength and hub proximity are within range (true as of Sept 2025 at least). The keypad is well made and the finger print sensor is very responsive; giving additional access options as required. So far performance has been flawless once the calibration has been done - (it may take a few goes to make it consistent without error messages) Over all would recommend.

Great Features, Some Setup Hiccups, but Best UK Option
I'm giving the Aqara Smart Lock U200 4 stars. After having two Nukis in a row, I got frustrated with both the pricing of accessories and the slow response to software issues. While this lock has had its issues—setting up with Matter can be frustrating and I've seen others on forums having similar problems—the key is to properly follow the setup instructions from power on, especially holding the set button. It takes a while but does eventually get there. I run this on a Matter network with an Apple TV 4K and Home Assistant, and it works great. The software is actively being worked on, though it still feels slightly beta-like. There are a few features you miss with just a Matter setup without the Aqara hub, which is mentioned in the description, so double-check that you have what you need. In day-to-day use, the wife approval is high. The keypad, fingerprint, and HomeKey (which I love) all work flawlessly, with the fingerprint being the winner. The upcoming iOS 18 update this autumn adds Apple Home guest HomeKeys, which is a cherry on top. Overall, even though this smart lock has a few software updates to go before reaching its peak, it's without a doubt the best on the market for the UK. Until we get a solid option to handle multipoint locks, this is unquestionably the best UK option.

UK composite door
The lock is fantastic, was abit fiddly but with some trial and error it works flawlessly. Just remmeber to pull the handle up if you have a UK composite door or the lock won't work.

best smart lock
There are some important factors I consider when buying smart products (whether it's a camera, doorbell, lock, etc.): No subscription required Apple Home support No need for additional accessories (like a keypad, fingerprint reader, or hub) It should look good Reasonably priced This product meets all of these criteria. Installation: I've installed several smart locks before, and this is one of the easiest and quickest ones I’ve worked with. If you have trouble, you can watch the official guide or a video from YouTubers. It only took me 5 minutes to install. Setup: If you're an Apple user and plan to use it with the Home app, it’s crucial to add the lock to the Home app first, then to the Aqara app. If you don’t, you won’t be able to use the remote lock features, as those require the Aqara hub. Once it’s added to the Home app, you can lock and unlock it remotely. After adding it to the Aqara app, you’ll need to adjust a few settings, like calibration (make sure to auto-calibrate), latch mode (based on your door type), as well as the speed and sound of the lock. The only downside, which isn’t Aqara’s fault, is that in the Apple Home app, you can only lock or unlock the door. There's no option to retract the latch when the door is unlocked. This is due to a limitation in Apple’s system, but there are rumors that Apple will update this feature soon.

Very impressed with the product. Is my 6th different smart lock, installation was a breeze. Love that the keypad can be separate from the exterior door - makes for a very clean, standard look. Apple home and Aqara user already so found set up very easy. All the Apple HomeKey features work perfectly. The only thing family doesn’t like is the manual turn to unlock inside is very stiff. Have not quite worked out why but everything else is working perfectly and very stable in HomeKit so I’m not bothered by it.

I recently installed the Aqara U200 Smart Lock, and I couldn’t be happier with my choice. This device combines modern design, intuitive functionality, and seamless integration into one impressive package. Elegant Design: The first thing you notice is how sleek and premium the U200 looks. Its minimalist aesthetic fits perfectly with any door style, adding a touch of sophistication without being flashy. It feels solid and well-built, which immediately gives confidence in its durability. Easy Installation: I was pleasantly surprised by how simple the installation process was. Aqara provides clear instructions, and the lock is designed to fit most European cylinders without requiring professional help. I had it up and running in less than 20 minutes. No drilling, no complicated wiring. Smart Features That Make Life Easier: Multiple Unlocking Options: You can unlock via Bluetooth, HomeKit, Google Assistant, or even NFC cards. The flexibility is fantastic, especially when you have guests or family members who prefer different methods. Remote Access & Automation: Paired with the Aqara Hub, you can control the lock remotely and integrate it into your smart home routines. For example, I set it to automatically lock when I leave home and send me notifications if the door is opened unexpectedly. Long Battery Life: The U200 uses standard batteries that last for months, and the app gives timely alerts when it’s time to replace them. No surprises, no hassle. Custom Access Codes for Visitors: One of my favorite features is the ability to create temporary or scheduled access codes. For example, I set up a unique code for our cleaning lady that only works on Mondays between 9 AM and 5 PM. This gives her access when needed without compromising security the rest of the week. It’s incredibly convenient and adds peace of mind knowing you have full control over who enters your home and when. Security & Peace of Mind: The lock feels secure and reliable. Aqara uses advanced encryption, and the app provides detailed logs of every lock/unlock event. It’s reassuring to know exactly who accessed the door and when. Final Thoughts: If you’re looking for a smart lock that combines style, convenience, and robust security, the Aqara U200 is an excellent choice. It’s perfect for anyone who wants to upgrade their home without complicated installations or sacrificing aesthetics. Highly recommended!
