Ubiquiti UniFi Cloud Gateway Ultra

My Virgin router struggled to keep up with all the devices in the house. Speeds dropped, some rooms had no signal at all, and streaming or gaming often cut out. I converted the Virgin router into modem mode so I could use UniFi, and the difference has been incredible. The connection is now faster, more stable, and covers the entire home without issues. Setup was simple and the UniFi app makes it easy to monitor devices, check performance, and solve any problems quickly. It is worth noting that you do need an access point to get the full benefit, which means the overall cost increases once you add the extra equipment. However, the improvement in performance and reliability definitely makes it worthwhile, especially for households with lots of smart devices or anyone working from home. The customization options are one of my favourite parts. You can tailor the network to exactly how you want it, set up different networks, tweak security, and optimise performance. Configuring everything is genuinely fun, although maybe that is just me. This feels like a real professional-grade network upgrade compared to standard ISP equipment. Very impressed and highly recommend it.

After my ISP told me that the modem/router that they provided was no longer supported, and that the replacement they were offering they wanted me to pay more than double than it was worth I decided that it was time to ditch the ISP supplied option and pick an alternate. As l already have some familiarity with Ubiquiti Unifi this is the solution that I have chosen. My choice meets my needs small office / home network that is based on Ubiquiti components that are all managed and configured through Unifi / Unify app. Perfectly good for internet connections that are fttc (an external modem is required for fttc). In my case I have chosen to use a draytek viggor 166 a the accompanying modem for this router. I'm consistently getting the maximum available connection speed up and down. I have also added the following to the router to complete my network setup. Ubiquiti 8 port switch that has 4 POE, two WiFi access points that are powered from the POE, and a Ubiquiti five port switch that is also powered via POE. To provide all the wifi coverage and network connectivity that I need. If you have fttp that is approaching Gb speeds then get the next model router up is a better choice.

I was previously running the gateway software on a raspberry pi. It was good when it worked, but periodically would crash corrupting my sd card. I decided to finally decided to invest in an actual gateway. I wasn't able to migrate my old configuration from a back and had to set it up from scratch. Other than that it has been amazing. My home network has been faultless since. The app gives easy access from anywhere. It has a built in speed test which removes the issues of testing through a client over the network. The display is cool and gives a brief overview.

Easy to setup and has lots of features such as optional enhanced security. For the price of this product it seems to have a lot of capability including functionality for a VPN server, firewall rules and to manage access points which i may end up getting to add to my network. Performance seems to be reliable and stable so far with added cloud management for remote management/monitoring .

Excellent piece of kit. Had ubiquiti kit for many years and when my previous router died, no hesitation in replacing with this. Why only 4 stars? It's supplied with an EU plug, even though it's for UK use. Which means extra expense in buying a charger and cable, but just as importantly I now have an EU charger and cable which will get thrown away. Why not follow the lead of the sensible and responsible manufacturers and provide the router with no included charger (and knock £5/£10 of the price) and give people the choice of using existing or buying the 'correct' one.

Why oh why wouldn't the seller call out that this is a grey import with EU power adapter! I could source a different adapter, or use a travel adapter to make it work, but why go through all the effort - this is quality gear and I don't want to jeopardise the reliability by using anything non-standard. Waste of everyone's time, and it'll probably end up in a junk returns pile because they tried to hide what they were selling.

Had an older USG that has run for years. Migrated to the newer one for as the older one no longer worked for VPN purposes. Having the cloud controller built in is fantastic. I had the controller running on a pi for years, but had issues with the SD cards failing for years after constant log writes. Super convenient to have it built in. Also, the older model running with IPS would kill internet speed, this one seems to have little to know bottleneck. Very happy.

Tolles Gerät, sehr viele Funktionen, funktioniert einwandfrei. Die Firewall ersetzt eine alte Sophos XG Firewall bei mir und verwaltet zusätzlich mein Ubiquiti Mesh WLAN. Ich bin positiv überrascht, was ich hier alles einstellen kann. Das Internet läuft rasend schnell hiermit.

Al cabo de un mes de comprar el AP UD6+ me compre el Gateway para eliminar del todo el router de Movistar. Con una ont es facilísimo. Puedes crear vpn para acceder desde el exterior como si estivieras en casa. La seguridad es infinítamente mayor. Desde el propio Gateway puedes configurar y controlar los AP sin problemas, todo centralizado y facil de usar. Estoy encantado.
