A Bridge Too Far [Blu-ray] [1977] [2009]

Good war film loads of great actors in it, trying to keep the Germans of this bridge, not an easy task, but great story to it.

Tells the true storey of operation Market Garden! The endless list of stars should tell you how good the movie! Unfortunetly Wars will be with us until the end of man-kind! The men went thru hell and the youth of today need to see films like this because it was men of a similar age that where there! If is very sad to see the world still in so much turmoil when so many gave so much for a generation that don't seem to care! Anyway the film does the men that where their proud and we must never forget there sacrifice and hardship!

some historical inaccuracies and hardware mistakes but still a good war film.....not a documentry. Impressive cast with the sort of actors whose equivalent no longer exist today.

Still an enjoyable movie after all these years. Movies should not be regarded as history , for history I read. As far as the movie goes considerable improvement in picture quality and sound. The basic film was all I wanted , I am not into" extras", being realistic I don't find them that interesting to watch, so this suits me fine the basic film in Blu-ray quality. PS The great lines which this movie has in abundance have not changed. :).

Great movie 🎬 fast delivery

I feel uneasy writing this review as Richard Attenborough clearly put everything into the making of this immense film, and he was one of my favourite men of cinema. This epic film was a sad let down, despite having Attenborough as Director and a literally star studded cast. Truly spectacular, larger than life photography and some of the scenes of military hardware (dozens of aircraft and tanks) were literally breath-taking but I couldn't help feel that the film became bogged down by the enormity of the subject material and huge production and logistical complexities and somehow failed to get the dramatic impact across. Almost as if the film took on its own importance rather than the subject itself, if that makes sense. On several occasions, some "wow" moments (eg ordnance exploding) failed to hit the mark, no pun intended. The directorial spark was not fully alight when it should have been I'm afraid. But if you want a jaw dropping spectacular in terms of photography and sheer scale of the action, this film would be very hard to beat.

I bought this on DVD a long long time ago I thought it OK but this is so much better quality. It is also one of the best W. W. 2 movies of all time it sticks to the facts it is well written acted and directed and our cousins over the pond did not win the war

Great story, great cast

I liked this movie when much younger, still liked it now and music is great, all members of my family keep wisthling the tune.... it is a "traditional WW2 US movie", lot of unrealistic stuff... nothing like "Save private Ryan", still you can enjoy it
