See below the way I choose the star rating. These traps seem to only trap those silverfish, that decide to venture in the box. It does not attract them or motivate them to kill themselves. I placed 4 of them in places where I found silverfish before: in the washer/dryer room, under my bookshelf, in the bathroom cabinet, and the attic. I caught ONE so far in the 2 month I put the traps out. In the future I would look for something that actively attracts them and then captures them. Through the years I've seen the odd silverfish in my bath tub but recently have seen a couple each week, this time, in my bedroom. I gave this product one star because it's true the traps are very easy to put together, but after nearly a week I was still seeing silverfish but none in the traps I'd set up. Then last night I saw one on my bedroom carpet and watched as it crawled over to the trap, stopped, then scurried off in the opposite direction without entering the trap. I got my bug spray and killed it before it crawled back into the wall and will call exterminator today. I wish these had worked; would have been cheaper and I like to support small businesses but not to the point where I'm throwing money away.

We place the traps along baseboards and have found the work well. We mark the date we place them and then have moved them around if they do not catch for a while. Some places are much more likely to result in catches than others, i.e. some did not catch for weeks/months whereas others caught in days. If yours are not catching silverfish, try another spot.
