Good results, cheaply constructed and broke after 3 flashes.
I ordered one of these due to the positive reviews I read. I'm not sure if the design or manufacture of these devices has changed but the Dorr flash I received was the flimsiest piece of photography equipment I've ever bought. The plastic used in the flash housing is very cheap, the battery door feels like it would have broke after a few weeks of use - the flash didn't last that long! The battery compartment itself is too small for modern high capacity AA cells, they have to be forced into the chamber and sometimes pulled out with pliers.Despite these issues I did manage to get 4 batteries inside and got some shots. The results were very good, far better than the cheaper ring flash I'd been using. I got 3 photos, then the flash stopped firing. At first I thought I'd put partially flat batteries inside so I loaded up another 4 fresh cells (with some difficulty due to the small battery compartment), alas the flash would no longer power on.Also I did notice when the flash was attached to my 6D the ETTL settings on my camera were greyed out, however on my cheaper ETTL ring flash I have full control over these settings. Makes me wonder if it is an ETTL flash at all....I returned for a full refund.

Very good features at a nice price
This is a good ringflash at a nice price. Fits all my lenses and gives good exposure, if a little too bright at really close quarters, but I soften it a litttle by diffusing the light through a bit of tissue. There seem to be several ring flashes on the market with identical features but branded under different names and I would say they are all actually the same. I had a good look and went for the cheapest of the bunch and glad I did. Great for macro work enabling a smaller aperture and slower shutter speed to help get that extra depth of field. Good to freeze the action of insects etc too. In summary then, a good flash with TTL features and at a fraction of what Canon/Nikon etc charge albeit probably not quite the same build quality.

Useful addition to my kit
Easy to mount and use. Purchased for macro use and works well, haven't tried portraits yet. Good value compared to Canon.

poor
poor bit of kit, the one i got was broken and did not work properly, and this was a relief because from what i saw i was not impressed. No functionality. All it has going for it is ettl-2 exposure adjustment but no other options

Outstanding. Buy it.
Buy this ring flash. It packs enough wallop that I can take macro photos at 1:3 with 1000th second shutter speed. And obviously, it has TTL.True, all us Canon users would like to buy the twin lite MT-24EX because it's the best flash for macro photography but it's around £800. For under £100, there's no better ring flash than the Dorr. And I've tried pretty much all the ring flashes out there, below the £90 mark of this one. They're not powerful enough. You could build a set up with brackets and an off the hot shoe flash unit with a diffuser. These work brilliantly and give you good modelling. But they require a lot of parts, building, fiddling and bodging and will set you back more money unless you're lucky.I use this ring flash with a Canon 100mm macro as well as a reversed 28mm and extender tubes and apart from a bodge to make it fit on the reversed lens, it's blown me away. No more camera shake! The sharpness it brings to the 100mm especially, is remarkable. Out of interest, I took 2 identical shots of a dead wasp (it's winter in the uk!) one with the Meike ring flash and one with the Dorr. The Meike was ok, but the image broke down on the pixels zoom in. The Dorr showed every hair, every wing vein, every dimple up to the highest zoom in on my computer.Don't waste your money on the bottom end £30 ring flashes. They're fine to start with, but you don't realise how much you have to work for every half decent shot where as now, I just have to worry about focusing. It's a relief.Downsides.Although you can adjust the intensity, you can't model. It feels a little lightweight and plasticky.Plus sides. No LEDs so you get a realistic, warm result.Power! The price. No excuse apart from lack of patience not to get great shots.

Great for the Price
I have been hankering after a ring flash for some time as I do quite a lot of macro photography (mainly bugs and flowers). Being a little short of funds I opted for the DAF-14 and found it does exactly what I wanted. I find it best to do some test shots with the camera set to manual before setting off on my "bug hunt".

Works great although it sometimes needs some adjustment
No problems at all, will need to be looked after as it seems a little plasticy. Works great although it sometimes needs some adjustment. Comes with a selection of adapter rings. Worth getting as its way less than a Canon or Nikon equivalent.

just what I needed
This is a brilliant little flash and exactly what I needed for Macro Photography. The few shots that I have taken so far have been spot on.
