In the School of the Holy Spirit

Thorough and Concise
In The School Of The Holy Spirit by Jaques Philippe, is a short treatise on attending to the Holy Spirit, the purpose of which is our sanctification. According to Philippe, we cannot achieve holiness on our own. Our sactification rests on the help of the Holy Spirit, for which we must develop a sensitivity to his movements in our heart.Philippe gives us ten principles for fostering inspiration from the Holy Spirit: praise, petition, obedience, trust, abandonment, detachment, solitude, perseverance in prayer, examining our heart., and working with a spiritual mentor. Philippe goes on to describe how we can foster inspiration from the Holy Spirit, as well as how we may discern inspiration from the Holy Spirit. Although this little book is only three chapters long, Philippe also includes three appendices, which includes a prayer to the Holy Spirit, and quotes about the Holy Spirit from Fr. Lois Lallemant and St. Francis de Sales.Although this book is only 90 pages long, I found it a thorough and concise work. It was both an enjoyable and enlightening read. Philippe gets straight to the point and his topics are well organised. In The School of the Holy Spirit is beneficial to Protestants and Catholics alike.

Magnificent
This is truly a work of holy genius. It flows naturally and simply like all things genuinely beautiful. It reveals the depths of what it means to truly be a human being created in the image and likeness of God and filled with God‘s Spirit. Thank you, Fr Jacques.

Let yourself be moved by this book!
Fr. Jacques Philippe speaks by the power of the Holy Spirit in this book! Allow yourself to take a couple days to just sit with this book and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you in a personal way. I think I learned to tune the Spirit out throughout the busy-ness and even laziness in my life, but this short read can inspire the heart to listen more and love more in the little ways at home or whatever needs to be done around us. My favorite part was Appendix IV. I found the language there most moving and lovely. ❤️

In the School of the Holy Spirit
I was just getting started when the book was finished. It is just a good beginning learning about how to discern when the Holy Spirit is talking to us & when it is our selves or the evil one. I want to know more.

Prepare to be Amazed!!!!
How to start? I've read many books on the subject of spirituality and this is simply one of the best I have ever had the good fortune to read. The author's main premise is that holiness is not something human beings can accomplish but we shouldn't give up hope because it's really just a matter of trusting in the power of the Holy Spirit to work through you one moment at a time paying attention to divine inspiration and acting on it, expressing continual praise, gratitude and thanksgiving. The "method of holiness" is harmoniously supported by various quotes from many famous saints and doctors of the church the net effect of which is: you will be convinced that not only are you called to holiness/to be a saint but that it's your natural birthright as a human being and it's actually an enjoyable ,albeit challenging experience. I've noticed a change in myself as well...being more willing to accept God's grace/presence in my daily life which God seems to enjoy rewarding with more grace and inspiration.....I'm starting to understand what St. Paul meant when he said: "It is no longer I who live but Christ who lives in me." Come Holy Spirit!!!

Valuable resource for all who want to be more receptive to the inspirations of the Holy Spirit
Fr Jacques Philippe takes a very gentle and simple approach, much like the Holy Spirit itself, in approaching the topic of how we can all be more receptive to the inspirations of the Holy Spirit. This is definitely one of those books to schedule for a yearly read.
