This is hands down the best lip stain I’ve used over years of trying different brands. Most red stains have a blue base and fade to a magenta color that’s really unflattering on my olive skin tone. Joy is a true red and fades down to a much more natural color on me. It can be layered to give a bold red lip similar to a matte lipstick, or it can be a light flush that’s perfect for a minimal makeup look. It’s transfer resistant and long lasting. I love that I can wear it under a fabric face mask and it doesn’t smear or budge! It’s also not tested on animals which is important to me.

Finally! This is the lip/cheek stain I have wanted for years and years. My everyday makeup look uses a lip/cheek stain, which 90% of the time is a shade of red. I've used Benetint for 20 years, but it's never been the exact color I wish it was; it's too pinkish. I've tried countless other lip/cheek stains, with the same result...they are lovely, but not that "red red" that I want. Joy is labeled as a "cherry red". Most of the time "cherry" red seems to translate to "dark purple red" which looks unflattering on my skin. This stain does not have dark red tones. I worried that Ere Perez "Beetroot" stain would come out the color of beet juice (which is a gorgeous color; just not what I want). It doesn't! It's like Ere Perez customized the color I wished for! To me this color looks like the juice in a jar of bright red maraschino cherries. It's the color of Grenadine liqueur (Pomegranate) held up to ligh,t so the darker tones disappear (Pantone 17-1558X). This stain is made with rose hips and beetroot, and my skin definitely, overwhelmingly brings out the color of the rose hips in this tint. I LOVE it! The texture is liquidy, but not so thin that it spills out of the rollerball, and not so thick that it comes out in blobs. It has a smooth, thin syrup constency that feels moisturizing and soft. It has a sweet taste of Agave Nectar! Great innovative product at a wonderful price! Arrived the day after I ordered it.

Update: was super happy with thia purchase. In fact, is the 3rd time that I bought it. However, this time it arrived filled with 3/4 parts of the bottle. It didn't have any seal nor nothing. I think it was used! ___________________ It lasts the whole day and it gives you a super bright or a few red color depending in the quantity that you apply it. I live that it is natural. It has been one of my best purchases!

This product of pretty great considering it has minimal and natural ingredients. The only reasons for 4 stars is because the color is a bit more berry colored and less warm toned than I thought from the description and picture and I feel like it could use more glycerin or jojoba oil or something to give it more slip when used as a cheek tint because the product tends to absorb fast where you put it which makes it hard to blend at all. I’ve goin found that a wet sponge aids in application. A little goes a long way on the lips too. My picture is one application after a full day of work and a salad and chicken tender lunch. Stains lips well!

I am SO impressed!!! I was a little hesitant to buy this because I’ve seen mixed reviews, but this is by far the best lip stain I’ve tried, and I’ve used 3 or 4 different brands before this. I have been trying to use less toxic makeup and took a chance on this because I didn’t like all the endocrine disrupting fragrances and dyes in the brand I was previously using. This stain lasts all day, a little goes a long way so I don’t need to use much product, and unlike other lip stains I’ve used it doesn’t dry out my lips or settle into cracks when my lips get chapped throughout the day. If you’re on the fence about spending $30 on a lip stain trust me when I say you’re getting your moneys worth with this product.

So I changed my review down from three stars to two but maybe it only needs one. To each his own and some people might love this but it was not for me. I was looking for a natural lip stain to avoid weird ingredients and regular lip stick. Just wanted a little something to basically kick up my natural lip color when applied lightly or be kind of a dark snow white red lip when layered up.. This looked like a winner. I was wrong. It was a $27 mistake that it now sadly in the trash. I tried. And tried again. But it looked awful no mater what I did and tasted horrible. Kind of like soap with a bite. Other people have complained of this in other online sources. Someone somewhere said they fixed it but apparently not. I tried so hard not to get any in my mouth but it just happens. Nasty stuff! I'm attaching pics so you get the idea of the shade it looks. Sorry bout the gross saliva strings there and the blur on the second one but you get the idea. A very bad match for my light olive skin. It has major orangey undertones so maybe if that's you palet and you can get over the taste or somehow never get any in your mouth but otherwise I'd recommend you pass. Also I thought it made my teeth look yellower. Some shades of red and pink can do that so be careful. It also bleeds a bit. In the photos I think I put about three shades. Anything less looks like a faded gross version of whats pictured. It does fade with eating and stains but not entirely or evenly unless your lips are perfectly smooth. When i tried to wash it off with natural dish soap it left a bit of a weird orangey haze. Haha, great! Kept it out of guilt for a while planning to somehow make it work then realized this is ridiculous and tossed it in the trash.

This looks practically neon fuschia in the tube but you can easily customize it to your taste. One layer gives that just-ate-a-popsicle look, another layer is a little brighter, while a third layer is quite bright and really makes a statement. What I love most is that it stains your lips so you don't have to worry about it getting on your teeth, bleeding outside the lip line, or looking crazy. You don't need a lip liner with it either because it applies so cleanly. This has a sweet taste to it and it's not drying. It wears really well and doesn't leave you with a ring around the middle of your mouth like a lot of stains do. This is one of the best lip products I've ever tried and it's a bonus that it's full of clean ingredients. I like it so much I've ordered the red one (Joy) too.
