This amp is great for acoustic guitar
This amp is great for acoustic guitar, but much to my surprise, it's the best amp I ever plugged into (for my jumbo arch top w/mini hummer) I use an inexpensive compressor to boost the weaker signal from the magnetic pickup. It has 'voice of the theater' quality. Goes as deep as you want for bass; covers the whole range nice and even.

Nice sound, but not loud
I bought this amp after doing research on the lower end of the acoustic amps. I decided on this one, in part because of the reviews here. However, while the amp sounds nice and true - it is not overly loud. I have to keep it on 8 out of 10 to hear it decently in my living room. Not 1.5 as the other reviewer said. At 1.5, I can only hear my guitar not the amp. At 8, I can hear the amp over my guitar. Too annoying to return, so I guess I'm stuck with it. It's not a terrible practice amp, but don't think you can bring it to a gig.

Vocals, mandolin, guitar and/or upright bass!
I bought one of these a few years ago. Actually, the day I bought it, initially, I had tripped over it in a guitar center store! Since it was used, they were basically giving it away. Thank god for gear snobs, the rest of us less wealthy sots can scoop up the real deals. This amp is a performer. I have used it for singing (SM58 with XLR to 1/4" plug) and playing a piezo equipped/pre amped mandolin simultaneously, solo or duo with an acoustic guitarist playing through one of those marshall acoustic amps. The CA15 stood up to the marshall no problem. I think I've rarely had to twist the volume past 3 or 4. Also, I use it to amplify my upright string bass onstage, with a full church band, BUT, I also run DI to the house PA. For this application, I don't twist the volume past 1.5. Plenty of uses for a lover of music who almost never gets paid to perform. (Ever heard the joke about the musician who drives thousands of dollars worth of equipment to a $50 gig in a $500 car? DON'T be that guy!! You won't have to live that way with this amp, hahaha.)Sure, the amp's reverb and tone has it's moments, but as any bar and restaurant player can attest, the patrons rarely give a crap about the sound of the music, so as long as they can holler at you while you play or sing along with their karaoke requests, lol.....

Excellent Value
I used several small amps to try and duplicate the acoustic sound. I was somewhat close but never quite it. I got some Amazon gift certificates for my birthday this year and finally had a chance to get an acoustic amp. I had been browsing and studying the amps prior to my birthday. The Crate Ca 15 was one of my favorites because it was small, and had 2 channels. Not many have 2 channels in the 140.00 price range. I have some crate amps and knew it would likely be dependable. When I found a supplier that was selling the Ca15 for 90.00 I jumped. From previous experience, I knew I could depend on Amazon to have a dependable supplier. I got the amp in just a few days, opened the box and plugged it in. I couldn't tell you how good this amp sounded. It has a reverb as an added feature. I could use this amp for small to medium venues as well practice. It has a headphone jack and speaker out. Compared to all the acoustic amps in this price range, you just can't get all these great features.crat

Best Bang for the buck
Compact, simple controls, very good sound from small package. The color combination is elegant, this is a quality amp for practice or performance in venue with up to 100 people.

Great practice amp for the price
Nice amp. Wanted a small amp for the family room and my Taylor Mini (which I love). This Crate fits the bill and the spring reverb puts the amp in a class by itself for the price. That said, this is not a pure reproduction of acoustic sound like the $500 amps but close enough. I have had a million amps and currently use a Boogie Express with my Fender guitars. The Mini and this amp make a simple, easy to move around practice setup.

what a fine little amp
Oh, baby, what a fine little amp. Has a sturdy rod underneath to raise the front for listening. Sounds great and controls do what one would expect - the control whatever frequency is specified. Love it. Hey, it's plugged in now; think I'll go play!

Without rival at this price point
Superb. Bags of punch, reverb ample without being over the top. Big sound from a small box.The compromise is no independent volume control so all done from your instrument. That's fine but not for a microphone, they don't have vol controls. An independent reverb would be helpful too as both inputs are subject to the same setting and eq.This has to be balanced against the price point and why you use it.For me, the keen amateur it is without rival even against amps at 3 times the price. Looks cool too!!
