Excellent fun for adults too!
My husband and I pre-ordered this for ourselves :) No we don't have kids, but we figured we'd give this a try because we love Disney and video games, and with all the buzz about the first one, we went ahead and ordered this one. This is a review from an adult who had not played the first one yet, so I will not be comparing improvements. First off for those of you with a Wii U (I don't know about the other consoles) but you can get Infinity 1.0 for free on the nintendo e-shop. Also the base works with 1.0 charecters and play sets, so if you are thinking of getting 1.0 or 2.0 then just get this one because you can essentially have both. Anyways, I will start off with the toy box: This I have to say is a little confusing. I was really looking forward to 'endless possibilities' but my biggest complaint is the toy box memory. If you have a lot of buildings or blocks, then it will get to the point were you can't build or place anything else. They don't really explain this to you either. I had to look online and found out that the smaller the blocks are, then the more memory it takes up. So, it's better to build with large terrain blocks rather than small building blocks. This goes along with my second biggest complaint, is that they don't really explain very much at all to you. Theres an introduction that tells you the very basic, but after than your left to figure out all these different buttons and menus to yourself. I had to do alot of reading online to realize everything you can do with the toybox. Another tip: don't try to build everything you want in one toybox. For example if you want a fairytale land, then make a 'Fairytale Land' toy box. Open a new toy box save for a pirates themed toy box. Don't put cinderella's castle in with the pirates stuff or else you will run out of memory. BUT, those are my only complaints. You can literally build almost anything your imagination can think of as long as you keep putting seperate ideas in seperate toy boxes. It is very fun. Once you read up on it and build a couple trial toy boxes, you really start to get the hang of it. You can make epcot land, or disneyland, the posibilities are endless. Just remember to make seperate toy box saves for each 'theme'! I could go on, but you get the point :) Playsets: Extremely fun! I am very surprised at how big these playset worlds are! It takes forever to load, granted, but in the avengers world it is huge! I play as Thor and it takes me quite a few minutes to fly around the loaded game play area. There is also so much to explore. I almost like flying around and exploring more than the story line. I won't say to many things and spoil it, but take your time exploring and interacting with the cars and people on the map. It can get pretty entertaing :) The actually missions are pretty interesting. Granted, there is some grinding, but I have yet to find a video game that doesn't have that. The story line has variety though, and you meet alot of different people. It's not extremly easy either. The character upgrades are also a very nice touch and you can change alot. Well I don't want to keep rambling on or spoil too much, but I feel that sums up a very basic look at what Infinity is about. I would highly recomend this for just about anyone who enjoys Disney characters and video games. Very fun and lots to explore and learn about the full potential of this game. I won't be bored with it anytime soon!

A Smashing Good Time for All Ages
Just finished off the 2.0 Avengers campaign. I have to say, it was a total blast from start to finish (no pun intended). The character sculpts are wonderful, and in game, Iron Man and Thor are the two you're going to play with the most. The Black Widow is fast with hand to hand combat, but she just doesn't have the same impact as the other two heroes. I must admit, however, building up her skill levels results in some very cool dual handed bullet bursts. This makes her one deadly force in the Power Disc game, Escape from Klyn. In the main adventure, Black Widow's disadvantage is that she can't fly, so getting around New York City at decent pace requires a vehicle. Oh, they're readily available right from the start, but it kills the high energy flow when having to make pit stops to summon fast transportation. With Iron Man and Thor, you press a button, you levitate and another button sends you soaring at heart pumping speeds - - no wheels required. I can't comment on the other characters, as I haven't opened anything additional, but I'm getting ready to dive into Guardians of the Galaxy. Yes, there are TONS of enemy frost creatures on the Loki side of the fence, so get use to fighting the same type of icy cold enemy over and over (with variations in their sizes and abilities). Also, like the 1.0 edition, missions can feel repetitive at times. This may bother some, but between the number of awesome moves, and the very welcomed Skill Tree, every fight felt like grand scale mayhem The insane abilities and special moves of your Super Hero are a sight to behold. Even the interaction with the surroundings is so well done. I also found the missions to be less frustrating then some of drawn out ones from 1.0 (except for Pirates which was my fav from that set). There is so much to do with the starter set, that you really feel like you're getting your money's worth. You have the main campaign, plus the two power discs, each containing their own full game. These power disc-based games are of much smaller scale when compared to the main adventure, but believe me, both games are beefy enough to stand on their own. Interestingly enough, it appears there are two more games (as the menu shows) ready for when Brave and Stitch are released. Plus you have the official playsets that are sold separately ( Guardians of the Galaxy and Ultimate Superman). Then of course, all roads lead to the beloved Toy Box where you can do just about anything. Avalanche studios packed in an insane amount of new toys, gadgets, interiors (now you can build indoors), landscapes, skyboxes and more. If you don't feel like you have the skills or time to build your own game, then download one of many offerings from the community. One of the best changes to the new 2.0 system is the way you obtain new objects from the Toy Box. Gone is that annoying, random "Wheel of Misfortune" style toy dispenser where you had to rely on luck to get the item you needed; now you simply purchase items with blue sparks which are easily earned throughout your adventures. No more spending your life backtracking through a completed game to try to find toys you may have missed. Not all items are readily available, but as you make a purchase, more goodies are unlocked through a branching system. There are a number of other areas I didn't cover (hall of heroes / Super heroes, survival mode, the game-like tutorial, etc..), but overall, I say if you're a Marvel SH fan, this is the game you want. In fact, this makes the best use of the franchise yet! You may find yourself addicted enough to start collecting all the characters, even the 1.0 cast, who work perfectly in the 2.0 ToyBox (they too have stats now!). And in closing, I'm of many fans who have a feeling that the next in the series will be Star wars (2015). Talk about a new hope!
