🎯 Master your reloads with precision — train smarter, not harder!
The TRT Tap Rack Dry Fire Safety Training Aid is a 3-pack of 9MM/.40 caliber magazine inserts designed to enhance dry fire practice by allowing the pistol slide to cycle smoothly without engaging the slide stop. Compatible with popular pistols and MantisX systems, it replaces dummy rounds to provide a safer, more efficient training experience. Lightweight and easy to install, it keeps the magazine follower positioned to prevent slide lockback, enabling realistic immediate action drills and reload practice.

Work great in Springfield Echelon and S&W Equalizer.
We have Mantis Laser Academy and my wife is using it to learn to handle a handgun better, before she goes shooting. These dummy rounds allow her to rack the pistol with dropping the mag or depressing the slide release. I know it's important for her to know these things, but she is working on racking, grip and target acquisition. These allow her to keep the 15rnd mag in, helping her grip the fairly short frame. Perfect. Easy to install and remove.

Great tool for nearly nothing to help with dry fire training.
I have the Ruger Security 9 Compact. I wanted something that was inexpensive to help with my trigger pull till I can get a lazer training system. This helps a lot as it keeps the slide from getting locked back. I can do this several times getting a feel for what I am doing. I understand that some users depending on the model of the gun need to do a little filing got get it to work. Mine worked fine right out of the bag.

Permits continuous dry fire practice with 9mm mag
Usually for dry fire, I would load the mag with "snap caps" or "dummy rounds". However, each dry fire round results in one of the plastic bullets being ejected from the pistol. After the mag is empty, I had to hunt for all the dummy plastic bullets, and reload them into the mag for more dry fire practice. A single one of these Safety Training dummy rounds (and no other dummy bullets) are loaded into the mag. The special dummy sits on top of the mag follower but is a flattened shape that is not caught and pushed into the chamber when the slide moves forward. This special dummy round just continues to sit in the magazine. Additionally, this dummy holds the magazine follower down so it can't catch and hold the slide back; the slide goes forward (but nothing is actually pushed into the chamber). So, push this into the top of an empty mag, and rack the slide. When you release the slide after pulling it back, the slide goes forward and the trigger is reset. Dry fire and rack the slide, dry fire and rack the slide. No reloading the mag, no hunting for the dummy rounds. This round can also be used to practice the procedure for "mis-fires" (bullet completely fails to fire) and "hang fires" (when the bullet fires several seconds later after the trigger is pulled). With only this special training dummy in the mag, pretend that you have been shooting live ammo. Then, rack the slide and pull the trigger. When the gun fails to fire, you have a possible mis-fire. You can now practice your "Tap and Rack" procedure for clearing mis-fires.

Good Investment
I love the concept of this device. Especially the fact that you can practice almost all aspects of shooting and fire safety - including, and especially hitting your target, without spending tons of money on practice amo and range time, or the time to get to the range. It's really helpful because you can practice shooting 360 degree, standing, crouching, laying down, around obstacles, all in safety and in the comfort of your own home where you most likely to actually need to use your fire arm (hopefully never!). My only gripe with this is the same as with every other similarity situated device like snap caps or TRT Tap Rack dry fire safety devices. It will not enable you to practice continuos fire. You must rack the slide every pull of the trigger. One adavtage of this continuous slide racking builds muscle memory, allowing increasing efficiency in that motion. I feel the same about snap caps (their advantage engraining the exercise of emptying your chamber. Both are important for new gun owners. As for continuous dry shooting magazines, there is only one company that makes these, but no models for my very popular handgun. Hope this changes.
