Although this will read and write A type cards, the card bay is too small to accommodate full size UDMA7- CF cards. I will keep it regardless as I have other applications for it as a reliable product. The quad reader of the same name, (BENFEI) will read, simultaneously Micro SD; MS; intermediate & full size CF-A cards as a four in one USB-C ~ 3.0 device. (UHS-1 speeds of up to 104MBS). In my opinion this footprint is compact enough to fit in a camera bag and covers most cards for the average end user. BENFEI products I have purchased have all performed flawlessly over the long term, years of service in fact and therefore qualifies BENFEI as reputable brand in my experience. My technologies include iOS and PC / android devices. I’m really happy with this purchase. It works as intended and the transfer speed to my MacBook via usb-c is extremely fast! The design is a plus, it goes really well with a MacBook Pro.

Ho acquistato il lettore BENFEI CFexpress Type A con USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbit/s) e doppio connettore USB-C/USB-A principalmente per lavorare con la mia Sony FX30, e la differenza rispetto al passato è davvero notevole. Fino a poco tempo fa scaricavo i file usando il lettore SD integrato del mio Mac mini M1 o un piccolo lettore USB-C per le mie vecchie SD V90 e V60. Con le normali SD i tempi erano accettabili, ma appena ho iniziato a usare schede CFexpress Type A (sia Pergear che Sony) il trasferimento diretto dalla camera o con il lettore SD diventava lentissimo: per svuotare una scheda da 256 GB piena di 4K 120p S-I servivano tranquillamente 18-20 minuti. Con il BENFEI tutto è cambiato. Un test concreto: 254 GB di footage 4K 120p All-I trasferiti sul Mac mini M1 in 1 minuto e 57 secondi (circa 2,1 GB/s reali sostenuti). La stessa quantità di dati, se fosse stata su una SD V90, avrebbe richiesto oltre 11 minuti. In pratica sto risparmiando 9-10 minuti ogni volta che scarico una scheda piena e, considerando che in una giornata intensa ne uso 3 o 4, recupero facilmente 30-40 minuti di tempo utile. Il lettore è compatto, realizzato in alluminio color argento naturale (aspetto pulito e professionale), non si scalda quasi mai anche dopo trasferimenti lunghi e funziona perfettamente plug-and-play su Mac mini M1, iMac, PC Windows 11 e persino sul tablet Android con USB-C 3.2. Nessun driver da installare, si collega e parte. Molto comodo il cavo integrato con adattatore USB-A rimovibile: se capita di dover usare una porta vecchia basta agganciare il connettore A e il gioco è fatto. In poche parole: se usate CFexpress Type A su FX30, FX3, A1 o simili e volete trasferire i file alla velocità che le schede effettivamente permettono, questo BENFEI è la soluzione più pratica e conveniente che abbia trovato. Costa poco, fa esattamente quello che promette e mi ha fatto dire addio alle attese infinite. Lo consiglio senza alcuna esitazione a chiunque voglia risparmiare un sacco di tempo ogni giorno.
