Canon EOS R5 Mark II Body

The Canon EOS R5 Mark II body I received was not in the expected condition for a new, high-value item. The camera body itself showed obvious signs of prior use, including dust, lint, and fingerprints clearly visible across the rear screen. For a product marketed as new, this physical state is unacceptable and immediately raises concerns about the item's history and internal condition. Furthermore, the contents and presentation of the product suggest it is a non-official UK version. The camera was not secured in the standard, reduced-plastic packaging typically used by Canon for new products. Crucially, the official Canon manual and warranty card were missing from the box contents. The supplied charging cable was a two-pronged EU version, and they tossed in a separate adapter to be used in the UK, which is inconsistent with a genuine, officially distributed UK product. The combination of clear physical signs of prior use and the absence of official UK documentation and accessories indicates that this product is not a new, factory-sealed item intended for the UK market. Prospective buyers should be aware of the high risk of receiving a used or non-region-specific version of this camera.

Camera good so far, but sold as new & arrived in an unsealed box which had obviously been opened.

Received an R5 Mk II clearly marked "For P.R.C. Only" on the box, with no Canon UK warranty and no warranty cards included. This could cause issues with future service or support, as Canon may refuse to work on grey imports. The item was returned and refunded, but this should’ve been made clear up front. Buyers beware — this isn’t a UK model! 1 star for the seller, 5 stars for the camera.

Outstanding Canon for advanced amateurs and pros. Nice upgrade over original R5. New eye focus works great, probably not for eyeglass wearers. Pre-exposure feature is fantastic and allows partial button depress for continuous image capture to buffer which gets flushed when full until full button depression; then the pre-button push images are stored along with images after button press. When waiting on something like a bird to fly from a branch or feeder the pre-exposure feature is worth the upgrade if you shoot animals or unpredictable subjects (kids?).

I have been an avid amateur photographer for 40 years (Pentax, Nikon, Hasselblad, Leica). I have a Leica SL3 system with a couple of superb primes. Unbeatable when time is in your side. But the speed of the Canon just blows me away. My last fast camera (used for wildlife) was a Nikon D5. That was no slouch and yielded superb results with the 400 f2.8. But the ability to fire off 20 or 30 frames a second with an electronic shutter (thus not degrading the mechanical shutter) is an absolute game changer. There is a lot of sorting to find the gems afterwards but it’s worth it. No more hoping your timing was perfect. Couple that with eye autofocus (which works perfectly for me - eerily so) and blazing fast autofocus, and action photography barely resembles the best DSLRs, let alone the film cameras I grew up with. Taking photos of children moving quickly and unpredictably in low light is no longer a challenge. Having used many top of the line cameras of their day I am frankly surprised at how much I LOVE this camera. Way exceeds my expectations!
