Ideal Security Deadbolt for Storm and Screen Doors, White, Key Lock

Honestly, I started sleeping better once I got this simple solution installed. The new door latches/keyed door handles for storm doors are so poorly made, I wasted a lot of time going through several. But this was my backup and it does the job. And is esthetically pleasing. If you install it under your storm door handle, you don't have to worry about someone slashing the screen if you leave the upper screen free to allow ventilation.

Lost the key to my old Larson Storm Door. Needless to say it was difficult finding a replacement at Home Depot. Now my storm door is functional again.

This little storm door deadbolt was great to install-although the template was off a bit(to be honest a little common sense was all that was needed)that is not unusual for any lock-but I've installed a few of these before(a professional locksmith)and the kit comes with a lot of screws for different door thicknesses.I rekeyed one of the cylinders to match the other-again no big deal-but an option for same keyed locks would be nice from ideal security-I understand the aftermarket sales deal-not a big deal for me!I could have bought these from a lock distributor but they have a minimum sales policy-so Amazon was a good option-especially with the prime membership-a great option.The finish worked great with the painted brown storm doors-and I was really impressed with the inside deadbolt thickness!A real sturdy lock for the money!!Hope this helped

Great could not find anywhere else

I bought this for my mobile home storm door. I was able to install it but had two minor difficulties. One, inside door was just shy of being wide enough but I was able to install it. Two, the jam part that the bolt goes into was not compliant to my door. I needed an L shaped one but again I was able to makeover it to catch on to the inside door jam and it works. The product is good I have no complaints there. And I bought another one for the back door.

This is made specifically for a storm door. The door I have has a vinyl trim on the door iteself and a metal frame. That combination meant that this lock would not fit on the door so that the bolt would go into the door jamb or trim as it was supposed to.I finally made it work by using a piece of 3/4" angle aluminum as a "striker". The bolt is not in the wood but just out visible on the inside of the door, with the bolt behind by aluminal bracket to keep the door from opening. The door is an EMCO door.In order for this to work, your door has to be set up so that this deadbolt can sit right up against the jamb. If it can't you will need to adapt it to use it.Otherwise built OK and works OK, but needs a little lube to be smooth.

This was extremely easy and fast to install. My only issue, andvit is MY stupid issue, is it would not lock from the outside. I called Amazon support, Ray, was nice and was able to get to get a technical assistant pretty fast. That assistant knew that I had installed the spindle 180 degrees out. Duh. It only took seconds to adjust.

Our old keyed screen door lock finally gave up the ghost and so I ordered this perfect replacement. It took all of 5 minutes to install. Excellent value!

Piece of junk. Do not buy. As other reviewers said the spindle can slide towards the outside and engages the key slot. Once this happens you cannot turn the lock from the inside of the door, you need to go outside, insert key and jiggle it around to unstick it. Brutal design.

I havent installed it yet but I'm giving it 3 stars because the sz is a lot smaller than ur average deadbolt.

Works perfect and will be placing another order for all outside screen doors .
