Excellent.
I bought this camera as a smaller option to my semi pro stuff for when I didn't want to carry my larger kit around or I wanted to look less conspicuous. I've tried top end bridge cameras, including Canons own SX50, SX30 and Panasonic FZ1000 etc, and always been slightly disappointed with the results, particularly with noise at lower light levels, even though the flexibility and features are excellent. I considered a mirror less camera but the reviews on the net haven't been too great either. This is a different matter. The results I get with the 100D are excellent. It is completely compatible with all my EOS (EF-S) lenses and Canon flashguns and is much much smaller and lighter than the 7D, 5D etc. I recently took it to the motorbike show at the NEC and was amazed at the results I got, being close to the quality of the 7D and 70D as far as the images are concerned. It doesn't have some of the snazzy features of the higher end cameras, like a top LCD, weatherproofing etc., but for a smaller option to carrying around the fuller size DSL-Rs and still having the best of both worlds in terms of lightness, size, and image quality it is the best option I have come across so far.

Fantastic general purpose cam for your average user interested in photography.
Really love this little camera. I'm really interested in photography and this has been a perfect introduction and fulfils all my personal and professional needs. I work in animation and design so I do not make money from my photographs but is has been incredibly useful for taking reference photos and video without breaking the bank. It's small, light-weight and not so expensive that you are constantly worrying about it when out and about or travelling abroad. I did not want a camera that would break my neck every time I carried it around for a day, this is perfectly sized so that I don't think twice about taking it with me, ideal for travel.

This camera is great. I broke a couple of old cameras recently and just wanted something cheap and cheerful (relatively) to replace them. I have been a Canon-user for a pretty long time so have plenty of lenses etc. The price for body-only was great - this is a very capable camera for the money. I've popped a pancake lens on to this, with such a small body it passes as a compact camera but with way more functionality. With bigger lenses (I've been shooting some video with a 24-105 it handles brilliantly and is capable of some great shots. Keeping the weight and size down is always a good thing. I've taken this along on shoots to compliment bigger cameras and it acts well as a backup or as something to leave doing a time-lapse while I get on with other stuff.

Excellent small camera
The Canon EOS100D is a very nice, very small DSLR. I also own an EOS7 which costs nearly three times as much, and the results from the 100D are evry bit as good. There small size takes a bit of getting used to, but once you put a lens on it, there is plenty to get hold of. I know from experience that it can be quite uncomfortable carrying a heavy camera around all day, and the lightness of the 100D is very welcome in this respect. Despite being light, it feels very robust and well made and the polycarbonate case feels almost the same as Canon's more expensive magnesium bodied cameras. there are two things I don't like. Firstly, the camera is a bit patronising! Every time you change a setting it explains what the new setting is used for, as if you know nothing about cameras. This is a waste of time. Perhaps you can turn it off, but I haven't looked at the DVD handbook, so I'm not sure. There is a small but quite comprehensive instruction book as well as a DVD so you don't need to use the DVD unless you really want to know everything about the camera. The other thing I don't like is the batty case cover. It feels flimsy, so you would need to be careful when using it. Cards are also accessed using this cover. So you will be opening it quite often. A shame really because it spoils an otherwise quality product, and is the reason why I have only awarded four stars. It's not a major problem however, so don't be put off by this. The shutter allows 4 frames per second. I thought I might find this a bit slow compared to my EOS7 but it's fine and in fact I have difficulty just taking one shot when it's set to multi- shoot. To summarise- an excellent camera, particularly for someone with small hands and also a worthwhile buy as a second camera when you want something a bit compact without sacrificing quality

Great light camera for those that ready to make the next step in SLR
Bought this to replace my ancient 1000D . Was thinking between this one and EOS 1300D as price was similar but 1300D has Wi-Fi option, but when for 100D as it has much better specs. Really good quality camera, all my existing EF-S lenses fit perfectly, very small and compact, smallest SLR camera cannon can offer. Won't go in to technical details, but if you already have SLR camera similar to 1200D and thinking to upgrade to mid range/professional this would be the one to go. Has good user interface that gives handy tips for every option and setting on the came as it's selected, so great way to learn common camera setting when moving away from automatic modes or trying to achieve that specific setting.

Not a upgrade if you all ready own a eos
Disappointed with the results this camera gives its no better than my old 1100d that was12mega pixels, so I thought I would upgrade it to the Canon 100d . I own lots of lenses so only bought the camera body,so I cannot tell you if it would be any better using the newest silent 18-55 stm kit lens. The size is too small hard to grip resulting in hand shake, The only good point is the touch screen makes setting changes fast and easy. So a good camera if you don't already own dslr I'd also take a at the other eos dslr as you can get a camera and lens kit for this price.

Just a slightly smaller Rebel
Yes it's quite cute but in reality this is just a very slighlty shrunken 600D/650D without a movable LCD. With slightly slimmer 'shoulders' but the same sensor and screen it offers nothing new or radical at all. Plus it's uncomfortable to hold for long periods. An underwhelming camera. I returned mine and carried on with my 550D instead
