How well does it work on thick hair?

Dear Customer: I don't think the 1/2'' mini straightener suit for thick hair. Bcz the plate is so mini. The highest heat is 410°F. The mini flat iron is good for short hair or bangs. And it is portable for travel. If you have thick hair, I suggest you could choose Terviiix 1'' Regular Size flat iron.

How many watts of power does it use?

For the website it is 100-240V dual voltage. It does get pretty warm in a hurry. I have really enjoyed using the mini flat iron. I have used this traveling out of the US as well as whenever I travel in the US. I’ve had this flat iron for several years and I would buy it again.

Can this be used for curling also?

Yes, the mini flat iron can be uesd for curling also. That's a tight curl for short hair/ medium hair or pixie haircut.

Are the plates real ceramic ?

I looked at the box and it says they are . They are black so I could only go by smooth feeling. I took a picture of my box but it won’t paste in my written answer…
