Will this work for soldering copper speaker wire together

Accepted Answer

Yes, apply the flux sparingly to the wires. Heat the assembled wiring wIth your soldering iron while touching  the wiring with your solder just until the solder melts and flows into the joint. Don't linger with the iron because you can oxidize the solder and the copper wire with excessive overheating. Insulate the joint with heat shrink tape or electrical tape where necessary.

Is this specific Rosin Paste Flux #135 non-conductive ?

In case you meant to ask "non-corrosive" the answer is, this should not be corrosive. I haven't seen acid core solder or acid flux in years but it likely still exists. The acid flux is mostly used in plumbing applications, if memory serves me correctly. As someone else mentioned it is still a good idea to clean off the residue of any flux. Neatness counts!

One states that it makes soldering easier and another states that it facilitates heat transfer. Both are right. But let ne try to further explain. Solder when heated will sometimes "ball up" when instead you want it to "flow" onto the contact pad on a printed circuit board or "soak" into the wire. It does this properly when there is the right amount of heat between the iron and intended surface. This is where the flux comes in play as it increases soldering productivity by making the desired soldering reactions take place more quickly. This also protects your insulation and other board components by effectively removing heat from surrounding areas more quickly. Hope this helps.

Is the flux supposed to be pretty hard? The instructions say to brush it on but it's to hard for a brush to pick anything up.

If you just get a small/medium container/bottle(that seals so it wont dry out/evaporate) you can scoop some of this paste into a small amount of Isopropyl Alcohol(91% and up, 99% is best less water) let it sit for a day to dissolve, You can also use heat to make the mixing processes faster but better to let it sit and dissolve on its own and let it do its thing and boom liquid flux. You can use with a brush or some kind of squirt bottle to dispense It, I use old vape juice bottles. hope that this helps. It works really well for me! Good Luck!
