Scott Pilgrims Precious Little Boxset

I got the call from my girlfriend that a package had arrived and I was stuck working in Scotland over 200 miles from home... I was excited to see if this collection was going to live up to the hype I had heard. I got home 2 days later and spent a rainy weekend reading the whole series. I loved it. The dialogue is clever and funny. If you were expecting it to be 'like' the film the humour is but the story isn't. The way the books evolve from first to last is great, the characters become recognisable and you start to connect with Scott but for me I connected with Ramona. She is more funny in the books than the film and her words are hilarious. Scott and Kim have more of a story. Stephen is hilarious and the additional side characters are amazing. I have since re-read each of them and you discover little bits you missed the first few times you read them and you get a chance to look at the drawings so much more. Best books I have read. Ever.

I have been such a big fan of Scott Pilgrim since god only knows, i discovered Scott pilgrim when i was younger and really enjoyed the movie, i only started reading the graphic novels around 2019 and eventually returned when i found the anime. Now that i own my very own copy of a 20th anniversary boxset which was delivered perfectly, the product wasn't damaged and it was just what i wanted, this was great, best order i have ever placed on amazon

A great series of books which are partly the base material for Edgar Wright's amazing film. If you have seen the film but not read the books, as i had, then i would strongly recommend buying these. The books are very much detached from the film story-wise from book 2 onward, at such a low cost and with brilliant postage there is not much reason not to invest if you enjoyed the film and want more. The only problem i found was how quickly i had read them all, 6 hours i think, possibly 5. Re-reads are still just as enjoyable however and are in-fact quite necessary to be able to digest the story in it's entirety.

This series of comicbooks has to be one of the best things to have happened to comicbooks in the last 10 years, it's funny, smart, surprisingly deep and just a joyride all the way from start to end. Also the poster is pretty kick-ass. Only real weird thing is the change of style, it starts out with a more realistic style, but slowly starts to turn over to a more anime-chibi style over the first 3 books, not a bad thing, but some might not like it.

I could go into details, which perhaps only other comic book fans would understand, but the thing about Scott Pilgrim is that it's for everything. The recurring themes of relationships, where-is-my-life-going, rivalry, being an idiot... these are things most of us can relate to, and O'Malley weaves them into a compelling story which moves at a good but realistic pace, while mixing in excellent geek humour and the kind of artwork which screams 'I may not be Alex Ross, but this is perfect for the story'. And it is. Not the same as the film, the comic goes much deeper. That said, I did thoroughly enjoy the film as well. Read it. Now. Seriously. Are you reading it yet?

Scott Pilgrim is a 21 year old who is a failure at life. After having break up with his girlfriend roughly a year before Scott falls in love with Ramona Flowers, a kick ass hipster chick who has a lot of baggage. In order for Scott and Ramona to date however Scott must defeat her 7 evil exes including a Pirate, Actor, Music Producer and a ninja. Scott must now choose his normal easy going life that he has gotten so used to or the fast paced action packed thrill ride that Ramona offers whilst risking his own good nature. All 6 books are hilariously funny and good time fillers with each taking a mere hour and a half max to start and finish. Scott Pilgrim is a must own for comedy, romance, action or graphic novel fans.

Vor fast 5 Jahren hab ich das erste mal den Film Scott Pilgrim vs the World gesehen. Zugegebenermaßen habe ich ihn nicht sofort verstanden, war aber absolut angetan. Seitdem habe ich ihn oft genug gesehen, um ihn mitsprechen zu können. Kurze Zeit später fand ich die Comics in unserer Stadtbibliothek, lieh mir alle aus und wollte sie eigentlich gar nicht wieder zurückgeben. Das Comic wurde mit so viel Perfektion und Liebe zum Detail in einen Film umgewandelt, dass ich es teilweise im direkten Vergleich nicht glauben konnte. Bisher mochte jeder, den ich dazu überredet habe den Film zu schauen, eben diesen. Die Comics bleiben bei mir unter Verschluss, aber ich bin mir sicher, dass auch diese großen Anklang finden würden. :D Ich mag den Zeichenstil, die Geschichte, die großartigen starken weiblichen Charaktere und vor allem den Humor des Comics. Der letzte Punkt kommt natürlich am besten im Original rüber, weswegen ich mich auch dafür entschieden habe. Die Comicbox an sich fand sich recht schnell bei mir zu Hause ein. Die Softcover Hefte kommen in einem Pappschuber, der an sich auch recht stabil ist. Dazwischen findet man das zusammengefaltete Poster. Keine Ecke, weder der Bücher noch der Kiste, war angeschlagen - ich bin zufrieden.
