This only has 1 button and only connects to an app via Bluetooth. Open the app, set the temp and done. You don’t need any other features in a sous vide machine. That’s the whole point of these things, set it and forget it. Verified steady accurate temps using my thermoworks probes. This thing works perfectly. Is the Bluetooth connection spotty some times? Yes. But all Bluetooth is! Soon as you loose connection it doesn’t like to reconnect but car stereos do the same thing. Close the app and reopen it and all is solved. But honestly never have I needed to open the app a second time after setting the temp. Pressing the top button stops the cook, but doesn’t resume it fyi. Either way, works great. Got it on sale for $20. Worth it 100%

I've had this for a few weeks, maybe a few months at this points. It's extremely unreliable, seems to have a faulty sensor. Mine worked fine for about two uses, but after that it started reporting "low water level" and shuts itself off. It doesn't matter how much water I put it, it still shuts itself off and says low water level. I don't even know why that's a feature. An electric kettle will still turn on if you forget to put water in, a curling iron will still heat up if you forget to turn around and walk away. This safety feature is just an annoyance that doesn't work. On top of that, the device has no on button, you have to turn it on or off from the phone. The app that comes with it is completely unreliable and fails to connect half the time. So generally I'll turn it on, it works for a few minutes but then shuts itself off unexpectedly. I open the app again to try to turn it back on, but I get the low water warning and a message that says it can't connect, so I have to fiddle with it some more to try and turn it back on. The app has a timer feature, but it doesn't actually do anything. It doesn't shut off the machine, it doesn't send you an alarm or notification, when it gets to 0 it just starts counting down into the negatives. The app features in the images are actually additional paid features. Apparently they were free and part of the app before but now you need a subscription. I specifically bought Anova because I didn't want a cheap Chinese knockoff, even though for the same cost there were other devices with more features, I wanted to support a US company. But this device is probably the worst piece of tech I have ever owned. I will try to return it and get a device from a different company.

An absolute steal for $20. Probably still a steal at $40. At that price point, I was expecting some kind of functional compromise, and yet: Brought my largest metal pot of water to temperature in 30m and kept it there. That's all I really needed it to do. Sous vide revolutionizes slow-cooking meats, I can't imagine making a brisket or duck breast without this anymore. It's fantastic that Anova is pricing this in a way that puts delicious, healthy, low effort, high reliability cooking into everyone's reach. I thought I would be annoyed by the lack of a display and necessity of yet another app, but the app is well done (see what I did there?) and ultimately I would rather check my phone than walk into my kitchen anyway. I wish it came with a safe, sanitary storage case, but I can survive without that.

I got the Anova Culinary Sous Vide Precision Cooker Mini, 850 Watts, 2024 Model and it has completely changed the way I make L. reuteri yogurt and other recipes at home. The setup is simple and the app makes it easy to control the temperature precisely. For my yogurt, maintaining a steady temperature is key and this device does it perfectly. I’ve been able to get consistent, creamy results every time without worrying about hot spots or fluctuations. It heats up quickly and holds temperature very accurately. I’ve also used it for eggs, meat, and vegetables, and everything cooks evenly and stays juicy. The mini size is nice for my kitchen since it doesn’t take up much space, but it’s still powerful enough to handle several jars of yogurt at once. Cleaning is easy too. The stainless steel part detaches and can be wiped down quickly, and the rest of the unit doesn’t get messy. If you want precise temperature control for yogurt, sous vide cooking, or experimenting with recipes, this mini cooker works exactly as advertised and makes the process simple and reliable.
