I have been using the CalltoU system in my home for about 3 years. The biggest issue I have had was battery replacement with the portable receiver. I am caretaker for my wife who is non-ambulatory after a brain tumor surgery. This system is wonderful. It gives me greater flexibility as I move about the home or do outdoor chores. More important, it gives her independence and helps protect her dignity. The system is highly dependable, relatively inexpensive and easily expandable. I recently added transmitters and receivers to my 3 year old system. The new and old equipment were easy to merge as if all components were purchased at the same time. Great company and great product. Customer service is caring and efficient.

I bought 3 different sets of this product. Two sets contained 3 call buttons, 1 receiver, and 1 portable transmitter. The third set contained 1 call button and 1 receiver. With these purchases, the entire system included 7 call buttons, 3 receivers, and 2 portable transmitters. Unfortunately, I have found the instructions on how to set up the system to be very confusing, particularly as they do not match the updated pieces of equipment purchased and included in the sets. I initially reached out to the manufacturer to seek assistance on how to set up and use system and could only find an online chat help. For some reason,, the manufacturer did not recognize the order number, invoice or UPC code on any of the 3 sets that I had bought and, therefore, it’s online chat help automatically closed out and disconnected my inquiry. I could not locate a telephone number for the manufacturer to enable me to try to get assistance to clarify how to install the system. I eventually contacted Amazon, where I was directed to a short list of “how to” videos about the different products. The written manual included in the boxes with the system are confusing and in a font so small that I had to use a strong magnifier just to read them. Even something that should have been very easy to do, like how to attach a lanyard to a call button, was not clearly explained in writing in the manual and the pictures/images were not designed to help guide the steps needed to attach a lanyard. And, the device I purchased had been changed from previous version of the device, which didn’t match any of the public videos posted that were based on the older version. Once I finally found an “updated” customer posted video explaining how to attach a lanyard to a call button, I found the process for attaching the lanyard required a level of nimbleness that was almost impossible for my 80 yr old mother to handle— the back piece of the call button had to be pushed up with just the right amount of pressure and direction that my mother couldn’t do. After separating the call button into 2 pieces, a little string had to be inserted into and out of 2 tiny holes on the back piece of the button before looping the lanyard through to tighten it, then the back piece had to be pushed and pressed back together with the front piece of call button to attach the lanyard. Unfortunately, I am still trying to figure out how to sync the different call buttons to the different receivers so that when one of the call buttons is pushed the different receivers all play the same ringtone. While the receivers supposedly have up to 55 different ringtones to select from, the portable transmitter that isn’t plugged into an outlet like the receivers but instead comes with a belt clip, only appears to have 4 ringtones— none of which seem to match with the 55 ringtone options on the receivers. The “stop” switch on the. transmitters don’t actually turn the transmitter on and off. I still haven’t figured out if there is a way to turn off the transmitter, other than perhaps removing the belt clip, sliding the battery cover piece off and removing the battery in it. And, sadly again, the written manual lacks clarity and also doesn’t provide sufficient pictures/photos to make it easier for customers to try to figure out how to set up the equipment, which would have been extremely helpful to the extent others, like me, have found the written instructions to be very limited and totally confusing. I’m really frustrated by how hard it has been to try to set up the system, which I still haven’t figured out, despite working on it and searching the internet for additional assistance. While I am comfortable researching for help to try to work through the minuscule manual/instructions provided in the sets by the manufacturer, I would imagine some older people would not be as adapt at trying to obtain help or guidance about the process to install the system from third parties. I had high hopes that the call button pager system would be a good tool for my elderly parents but I have been very, very disappointed about how hard it has been to try to set up the equipment. Even more troubling though is that I have found the products not at all elderly-friendly to manipulate, as noted in my earlier example about how hard it was for my 80 yr old mother to guide a thin string through 2 tiny holes and believe anyone who has any degree of arthritis would also encounter the same difficulties with handling the different pierces of the equipment. In sum, installing the system has been confusing, frustrating, time-consuming, and upsetting. I would not recommend anyone buy this system, until the manufacturer provides clearer, easier to follow, up to date instructions/manual in a larger font that doesn’t require customers to have to resort to using a magnifier to read and that actually matches whatever version of the products that you have ordered!! And, I would avoid buying any of the transmitters, which don’t appear to function/sync at all with the ringtones on the receivers and have a “stop” switch that doesn’t actually turn the transmitter on and off.
