Worth the price.
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Very bright little light. I like that there are 3 settings: (1) Bright, solid. (2) Less-bright, solid (3) Flashing. All settings are bright enough to see at a good distance (tested to <50ft horizontal). The solid settings can also be used to read gauges and slates. The flash setting has a very fast pulse, but it's guaranteed to get attention. I would absolutely recommend this product. See the video for how it looks underwater.

I've been finding more uses for it.
Better than a glow stick and functions quite well like a hands free flood light/lantern when out and about. I'll put them on my kids so I can keep track of them in the dark while camping. They think they are neat toys, and they are virtually unbreakable, but it helps keep them safe. Backpacking, when there's no moon, I'll leave one on my tent when I go to the bathroom at night so I can find my way back easily. I'll wear it around my neck as a sort of hands-free, low-intensity lantern. I leave mine in my night stand at home because it's bright enough for most uses, but the amber doesn't hurt my eyes like a bright white spot light would. I can also just turn it on and put it around my neck if I need to get up at night so I don't have to turn on lights. I wanted one of the lithium ones, partly for the extended storage life, but I'm glad I waited for the AAA version. The lithium is probably better for the original (emergency dive) usage, and definitely better in an emergency kit where it's going to sit in storage for years waiting for you. However, I use it enough that I'm glad I can just stick a rechargeable AAA in it.

great bicycle blinker light / ultralight backpacking lantern
I dislike most of the bike lights on the market. Their shapes are cumbersome to carry around (to prevent from getting stolen) but you can only use them while riding your bike. They tend to be over priced and $20 range lights are cheaply made. Small ones use flat 3V batteries that are expensive (unless bought online). Others use multiple AAA batteries and that make them too big.For a long while, my solution was Nite Ize SpotLit Red. It was designed for dogs and sort of worked as a bike blinker. The problems is it gobbles up flat 3V batteries fast and I had to stock pile the batteries. It also emits light mostly on one side so often the light was not very visible when the light gets flipped.I finally fed up and did an extensive search and finally found my near perfect bike tail blinker- Glo-Toob AAA.For the past two weeks, Glo-Toob stays on my keychain that clips with a carabiner on my jeans’ belt loop while I ride bicycle. As an added bonus, Glo-Toob is also great as an ultralight camping / emergency lantern. As an LED lantern (although they don’t advertise as one) this is the smallest/lightest I could find. The amber color is a nice replacement for a candle lantern. It doesn’t give off any heat but physiologically it almost feels like a growing heat element placed inside of an ice tube. With my very unscientific comparison using a charged Eneloop rechargeable AAA battery, the high (100% brightness) mode is twice or three times brighter than a Ikea tea light and the low (25% brightness) is about the same brightness as the tea light. The light distribution pattern is far more useful than a tea light candle lantern that emits light above but cast a big shadow below. Glo-Toob AAA emits light sides and downwards and very little above. This is great when you hang this somewhere above your head. Also since this casts very little shadow below, you can place this directly on your book or map to read. Also a great marker that helps you to make it back to your tent from bathroom trips.Pro:- Uses single AAA battery.- with rechargeable AAA battery you don’t need to buy battery for this for a long time.- lights 360 degree- bright (as a maker light)- Really Water proof (200ft)- warm amber color- just about enough modes without over complication (high, low, blink)- easy and fast to cycle through three different modes- plastic parts are thick and appear to be durable- easy to attach to anything with a carabiner or lanyard- attaches to a keychain thus no need to worry about getting your bicycle blinker stolen- multiple usage (bike blinker, lantern, marker, emergency search and rescue, EDC, diving)Con:- Blinking mode is too fast.- A tad too big as a keychain light.- Doesn’t really doubles as a regular flashlight (but works in a pinch)- They don’t state what kind of plastic this is made of so the durability is unknown.- The battery life spec is not very long for current LED standard.- More orange color than amber.

Bright enough and good quality for the price
This product is not like some of the videos of the glo-toob that you find online, the one with the 12 volt round battery, but it is a great deal for what it costs. I needed a 360 degree light running off a single rechargeable AAA battery, and I needed it to be somewhat durable, and I got just that. Read the specs carefully, it has limitations. One possible weakness I see is that you have to twist the bottom to turn it on and off, like a maglight flashlight, but twisting it is also how you open the battery compartment. They recommend to rinse it in fresh water and then drying it before opening it after it is submerged in seawater. So you can't easily change the mode or turn it off underwater, but I don't see that as too big a problem, as you're going to want to just keep it on all the time down in the murky depths. I wouldn't say it is extremely durable (it even lists durability as "medium" in the instruction card thing) but it is more durable than I would have expected a $20 marker light to be.I live near the ocean but I didn't get this to dive with. It is working out well for me so far.

Great replacement for glowsticks.
My friend is a sea diver and uses these for his dives. After seeing him use them in rough ocean use, I decided to grab one myself to replace my glowsticks that I use to be seen. I usually always carry some form of light to mark my location and be seen by friends. From hiking in the dark, climbing at night, cycling or marking the tree that I have climbed up to set up my hunting perch...you can always find a glowstick or LED fingerlight that I have left behind for people to spot. The problem was waste, these glowsticks need to be recycled or thrown away...the LED lights use lithium button batteries...Enter the Glo-Toob.Powered by a single, easy to find, easy to replace AAA battery with an amazing 15 hour battery life. It's bright, durable, water proof and shock proof. What more can you want from a rugged marker light? I attach this to my backpack when I cycle at night and I can be seen from long distances, I use it when I snowboard at night with the lanyard around my neck, I tie it to my tree when I am hunting, I attach it to my dog's collar when we go on night walks and I even used it at Burning Man to be seen in complete darkness.

It's ok but not as good as the manufacturer wants you to believe.
I have no issues with casual "soft" use for this gadget. But these are very expensive for what they are.For me it's not as robust as some of the reviewers make out.I had a first generation Glo Toob several years ago and it failed after using it for Scuba Diving after taking it 35 meters down in the sea.I made sure it was fully sealed before submerging into the water but the chamber ended up with moisture inside which made the device eventually fail. 60 meters the OEM says this is fit for - don't make me laugh (also check their warranty that liquid ingress voids the warranty). So why have I purchased the latest?Well I need something in addition to a torch that's compact and light when walking our dogs at night where there's no street lamps. No doubt for casual use like getting splashed with rain I'm sure this new Glo Toob will be fine. The change in design where these now take a AAA battery is a welcome one as these batteries are easy to buy and cheap. However (and I am a real OCD individual when it comes to detail) but I notice the bottom removable cap when screwed in tight is't a perfect circular fit. Running my finger around the edge of the cap where it meets the main cylinder body on one side the cap protrudes just slightly. It's because of this and only one rubber seal on the Glo Toob why I would not trust this for functioning in anything other than a shower and not submerged in water. Water does not need any help to penetrate into what should be sealed electronics and the slightest of imperfections will see moisture or water enter them. Also turning the cap backwards and forwards to cycle the light functions can be a bit hit and miss and doesn't always work as it should.Again - whoever thought opening up a seal and closing it again on what should be a dry sealed chamber is not thinking clearly regarding design (similar On / Off functionality on the first gen Glo Toob I had). It's bright enough for you to be seen by others in the dark from a sensible distance, and can be used as a temporary reading lantern if this is your only light source. The device feels well made but I'm not sure how shock proof it really is, as a rule of thumb electronics don't get on with being dropped - certainly not many times, so the robust feel of the device might make you become a little careless for the care of something that isn't as perfect as it should be.Just to give you an idea of how confident the manufacture is on this device being water proof - Glo Toob's USA website states If the device becomes flooded of water it voids the warranty. What???!!!
