Paper quality is insane
I bought this notebook to graph using sharpie fine tip pens for ink clarity and sharp color. My one concern was that the sharpie might leak through the paper, but this paper is both really smooth and very thick. I think some people had issues with permeability- I think that might be due to a wetter ink. I don't know how gel pens hold up. In my experience, the ink doesn't smear even though the paper is so smooth it feels like drawing on plastic. Lives up to the product description. Recommended use with fine tip pens, ink-flow pens- any pen or pencil that can glide over the soft paper and not press in.

Beautiful Notebook!!!
Absolutely amazing quality paper! Feels substantially heavy for a notebook, and the paper texture is very smooth. Every page you write on lays flat, so binding throughout the notebook is excellent. Cover is beautiful as well, has a nice textured surface (makes you feel extra fancy). All in all nothing I can complain about this notebook. Would highly recommend!!

Nice, but not with wetter fountain pen inks, and not quite as smooth as competitors.
This is a nicely built notebook with nice smooth paper, but for the price I can't give it 5 stars because too many of my fountain pen inks BLEED THROUGH and GHOST really badly. I do have some pen / ink combinations that don't bleed through, but I like to use many different pens and inks and it irks me not to be able to use them. As well, it isn't quite as glassy smooth as Mnemosyne or Clairfontaine papers, which compete in the same price category. This paper is AMAZING to feel in your hands, but compared to other premium papers it is more "draggy" in use. Still far better than un-coated paper, mind you. One good thing I can say, though, is that the ink dries WAY faster on this paper than on the other premium brands. Fountain pen ink dries in mere seconds, where with the Mnemosyne, Clairfontaine and others, you have to wait 15 to 20 seconds before turning a page or you will risk smudges. Tradeoffs. My favorite notebook (so far) is the Mnemosyne 199. My one disappointment with the Mnemosyne, though, is it only has 70 sheets of paper. The 96 sheets of this notebook, to me, is a good number - for the expense of these kinds of notebooks I don't think it's too much to ask for 100 sheets of paper. If I were not aware of other notebook offerings, I would probably be in love with this notebook. Also, if I were using a gel pen, like the Pilot G-2, I would love it. The paper and construction is way better than typical notebooks. It is classy looking and it stays flat due to using a stitched binding. I just wish it worked better with a wider variety of fountain pens and inks.

Paper Royalness
This notebook is exquisitely made and the paper feels very smooth and of premium quality :-) I tried writing on the paper with a pen and it flows very smoothly as does regular wood pencils. I usually prefer writing with a pencil of type H or 2H, and it writes very well also, plus you can definitely tell the hardness of the pencils apart. Unlike some other types of paper, which you may be unable to tell the difference between the HB and H, the Apica Notebook is if superb quality, if you are the type of person who has a touch for quality, and loves to write, than a few extra bucks makes this a very nice investment :-)
