Worked for LP gas as indicated but took chance on sewer gas... failed.
I bought this when I had a sewer pipe leak that I was not able to detect the source. Problem is the detector couldnt either. I completely understand that isnt its purpose so I am not deducting a start for that. I hoped reading the product description it would detect the sewer gases, but i guess there was not enough methane to detect it. But the odor sure was foul enough that I thought it would work. I ran the tester all over the pipes and fittings and around the toilet. No detection. So just to test it and make sure it can detect something I turned on my gas range without letting the pilot light the burner. It did a perfect job detecting the LP gas from the range. So I am going to hang on to this device because I have some gas appliances and you never know when it might come in handy. The reason I took a start off is because it is supposed to be so super simple to operate. Just hit the button tot urn it on and then it starts detecting. It took a few times to get the lights to light up int eh sequence the instructions said they would. I think they were supposed to light in sequence and then beep and go to green only but that wasnt happening. It would just go straight to green and do nothing. When I finally got it into its mode to detect it beeped every few seconds so I kneow it was workign and it went crazy when I turned on the gas. So if you use it for its intended purpose I am sure it will be fine.

Never worked.
I put in the batteries and it beeped once.. then didn't work. I contacted the seller and they told me to contact the manufacturer. I didn't get anyone so far. Can't say that it can do the job because it could barely stay on. I can't say I would recommend this device for much more than for stirring coffee.

Never worked... or did it?
Out of the package it never got a clean reading. Apparently there is a gas leak at my dining room table, on my front porch, and in the middle of my backyard.I'll repost and adjust this review if my neighborhood goes up in a massive ball of flames, but until then, I have to assume this is crap.
